Red Dead Redemption: 10 Things You Missed In Nuevo Paraiso
In Red Dead Redemption, players are able to travel to Mexico. Players can complete stranger missions and story missions as they travel through the area. While exploring, players can learn more about the area. Story progression will change a few aspects of the region also, with some players not noticing.
Undead Nightmare also adds changes. Along with zombies, players can meet familiar characters and hunt down cryptids. While these additions are only in the DLC, they can surprise anyone not expecting it. With how far each town is from each other, exploring the desert is a worthy task for any adventurer.
10 Javier Is From Here
It is known that Javier Escuella is from Mexico, but players might not know he is from Nuevo Paraiso. He became a bounty hunter and revolutionary, having to leave Mexico after he killed a powerful military man. Javier left because he was afraid his family would suffer if he stayed.
After the gang falls apart in the second game, Javier returns to Nuevo Paraiso. He starts to work as a hitman for the region's governor, Colonel Allende. This comes to an end after John Marston hunts him down, either capturing or killing Javier.
9 Camp With Loot Located Under Train Bridge
Who doesn't like a little treasure hunt? If a player crosses into Mexico on the Frontera Bridge, they can find a camp at the end. It is found underneath the bridge as soon as players reach land. The camp will be abandoned, meaning there will be no fighting.
At the campsite will be a chest that players can loot. The contents of the chest will range from $15 to $25. Either way, it is a nice payoff for not doing anything.
8 Casa Madrugada Is Full Of Crime
Much like Thieve's Landing in New Austin, Casa Madrugada is a place of crime. There will be no law enforcement at this settlement – besides the officer playing poker. Even if a player starts fighting, the officer will not intervene. Players will even be challenged to duels at random.
This means it is a good location if a player wants to get into a gunfight without causing too much of a bounty. There is also a safe house here, giving players a place to save their game.
7 Bandito Outfit Scrap Found At Sidewinder Gulch
Players who want to unlock a new outfit for John Marston can find a piece at Sidewinder Gulch. Players riding through this area can find an abandoned camp. Walking to the tent all the way in the back will reveal a chest to players.
In this chest is a scrap for the Bandito outfit. The outfit itself is not too impressive – it is John's regular outfit with a sombrero larger boots. The plus side of wearing it is that bandits will not attack the player anymore.
6 Rebels Become New Law Enforcement
After completing the missions in Mexico, the rebels will take control of the region. They will become the new leaders of Nuevo Paraiso and the army will be barely seen. Because of this, the rebels will act as the new law enforcement for the region.
Despite John Marston's help with the revolution, the rebels will track him down if he commits crime. At the very least, it is good that the new rulers of the region are not corrupt. It's just sad John will have to potentially kill former allies.
5 El Matadero One Of Last Places With Mexican Army
With the rebels in control of Nuevo Paraiso, it's expected that the Mexican Army would no longer be found. That, however, is not the case. In the town of El Matadero, soldiers can still be found wandering around. Despite being a rebel, the army will not attack John on sight.
The Mexican Army will also track down the player if their bounty goes over $1000. It would seem that the Mexican Army still has somewhat of a position in Mexico.
4 Cheat Code Located At Primera Quebrada
Players looking for cheat codes will find one at Primera Quebrada. The location will be home to a broken-down home. Going inside will reveal the phrase [I DON'T UNDERSTAND IMNFINITY]. Putting the code in will grant the player unlimited Dead Eye.
Players will also find a chest with some loot at the shack. To use cheats in the game, players need to go to the pause menu and select the 'Cheats' tab. After that, pressing 'Y' or triangle will bring up a box, letting players type in the phrase.
3 Chupacabra Found Here
With Undead Nightmare installed, players are able to find the Chupacabra. The Chupacabra will appear after the playing reaches rank 4 in the Undead Hunter Challenges. It can appear anywhere in Nuevo Paraiso, but a blue marker will appear when a player is close to it.
A message will also appear on the screen, saying 'A mythical creature has appeared in this area'. It can be killed pretty easily, allowing players to loot it. Looting the Chupacabra will give the player Chupacabra claws, eyes, heart, and teeth.
2 Unicorn Also Found Here
Like the Chupacabra, the Unicorn can be found in Nuevo Paraiso. It can only be found after the play kills the Chupacabra and all Four Horses of the Apocalypse challenges. The Unicorn can be found in the fields northwest of Torquemada. Players will not be alerted if it is nearby, instead having to be on the lookout.
As expected, the Unicorn will have a horn but also be surrounded by butterflies. A rainbow will also follow the player as they ride around. The Unicorn is also the fastest horse in the game, making it worth the trouble to get it.
1 Vincente de Santa Reappears As Zombie
While playing through Undead Nightmare, the player will be asked to clear Sepulcro from zombies. After getting to a certain point, the cemetery's 'boss' will emerge, being Captain Vincente de Santa. As he rises from his grave, he will say 'Mexico loves you, Mr. Marston'.
Players will need to deal with Vincente to complete the cemetery. He can either be killed or hogtied and left 'alive'. It's nice to know that even though the rebels won, Vincente got a burial.
