Red Dead Redemption 2 Single Player DLC Gets Fan Petition
Three years since Rockstar Games released the much-awaited action-adventure title Red Dead Redemption 2, and it seems the game’s fanbase is clamoring for more official story content from the development team. Though the players have been active through the title’s MMO counterpart Red Dead Online, and various user-created modifications, fans have recently brought back to life an online petition that is hoping to get the devs to make official single-player downloadable content for the game.
Most fans will fondly remember Red Dead Redemption 2 as the highly-anticipated sequel to Rockstar Games’ iconic 2010 video game, Red Dead Redemption. Though the game came out close to a decade after the original, the storyline of RDR2 was more of a prequel, and shared the story of how Red Dead’s John Marston got involved in gang life that was prolific in the Wild West. With both games becoming big fan favorites due to their immersive narratives, it is not surprising that fans will want more story content to come from the award-winning writer team of Rockstar Games.
On Change.org, user Ivan Ojeda posted an online petition for Rockstar Games to create more single-player focused story content for Red Dead Redemption 2. The petition's description also stated that the content does not have to be free, implying that players may be willing to shell out just to get any kind of new storyline. Though the petition was originally posted two years ago, fans have recently found it again, and seem to have made it their mission for the petition's goals to come to pass. Now, the petition already has over 5,000 signatures, showcasing the passion Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have for the game's unique storytelling.
Supporters who signed the petition have even left their own sentiments on the page's comment thread, stating how much they love Red Dead Redemption 2, and are totally onboard with the original poster's request to the development team. Other users commented that it would be great to explore the Wild West as a side gang member as RDR2 main protagonist Arthur Morgan goes through the main story. Overall, the fans seem very enthusiastic and are likely hoping that the development team will notice the demand for the DLC.
However, with the title hitting its third anniversary this 2021, it may be a long stretch for Rockstar Games to produce a new single-player DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2. Given this, fans may have to settle with playing Red Dead Online, or tweaking their current RDR2 games with mods, to keep their interest up until the devs announce something new for the franchise.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
