Star Wars: Republic Commando is Receiving a Limited Run Physical Release
Star Wars: Republic Commando is set to receive a physical release for a limited time. The tactical action-packed first-person shooter is set to soon return on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch digitally, but a Limited Run physical release has just been announced, as well.
Star Wars: Republic Commando originally launched back in 2005 on the PC and the Xbox. The LucasArts shooter was beloved by many for its tactical gameplay, an enjoyable campaign that followed the Delta Squad, and for its multiplayer. Recently, it was revealed that the game is returning on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on April 6, 2021.
Aspyr and Lucasfilm are teaming up with Limited Run Games (the same team that produced the physical release of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) to bring a physical release of Star Wars: Republic Commando for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders will begin on April 16, 2021, at 10 am ET, and they will be available for a four-week window.
For Limited Run Games, Star Wars: Republic Commando is just the latest in a long list of exciting physical releases. The catalog has been exciting fans since the company got started, and recently, Limited Run Games announced that it reached 2.5 million copies sold over its five-year run thus far; an impressive milestone.
On top of the standard editions, Limited Run also announced an $89.99 Star Wars: Republic Commando Collector's Edition as well. It features art cards, a SteelBook, a reversible poster, and more. The impressive collector's edition is a good choice for big fans of the game. The limited set will also be available to pre-order on April 16, 2021, for the same four-week window. In addition, in a follow-up tweet Limited Run revealed that PC physical releases of Star Wars: Republic Commando were also on the way.
Aspyr's Star Wars: Republic Commando will be available before the Limited Run Games physical versions are ready, so anyone who is eager to play the games may find it difficult to be patient. Aspyr has been an important publisher as of late for Star Wars fans, as it has brought back classic Star Wars titles like Star Wars Episode 1: Racer, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, and the Star Wars Jedi Knight games. Whether it be Limited Run physical releases or digital versions of those Star Wars games of old, many fans are simply happy to be able to play those classic titles once again on modern consoles.
Star Wars: Republic Commando is out now on PC and Xbox, with PlayStation 4 and Switch versions slated to release on April 6.
