Tekken 7 Releases Launch Trailer for Newest DLC Fighter Lidia Sobieska
Originally launched in 2017, Tekken 7's post-launch content continues to roll out to fans anxious for more fighters, stages, and more. Season Pass 4 has already delivered the ninja Kunimitsu and her Vermillion Gates stage. Now, Bandai Namco is ready to share what's coming next. Introducing the entirely original Tekken 7 character Lidia Sobieska. Tekken 7 players will be able to start playing Lidia and her stage, Island Paradise, starting March 23.
The short description from Bandai Namco says that the people of Poland, in response to the Tekken Force arriving in the country, demanded a stronger leader. That leader, it seems, is Lidia Sobieska. Lidia doesn't appear in any of Tekken 7's story mode, however. Players will have to fill in Lidia's lore with this short description and the promotional trailer provided by Bandai Namco's released. As for how Lidia ties into the Island Paradise stage, which isn't particularly Polish, players will have to use their imaginations.
Lidia's combat style is believed to be a form of Japanese Shotokan karate, a style similar to Street Fighter's Ryu, and judging from the trailer it's accurate to the traditional kata of Shotokan. In gameplay terms, it looks like Lidia is a very counter-heavy character with fast short-range attacks, quick distance closers, and a healthy amount of combinations that spin out of those counters.
Now, Tekken 7 players are left with a big question. If Lidia and her stage make up the remainder of the content Bandai Namco's teased for Season 4, what comes next? There's been no word regarding whether there will be a Season 5 yet. The silence has led some fans to question whether Tekken 8 could be announced soon. There's also the possibility of a Tekken 7 complete edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Fans will have to be patient to find out more later this year.
Tekken 7 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
