The Last of Us 2 Player Finds Incredibly Rare Combat Detail
The Last of Us 2 has an incredible amount of detail and animations packed into the story for players to discover, so much so that even now, months after release, players are still finding new interactions and animations. The most recent sees Ellie catching a hammer in mid-air before wielding it.
The Last of Us 2 drops players in a post-apocalyptic world that has been ravaged by an infection that turns humans into zombie-like creatures dubbed "clickers." The world of The Last of Us 2 is filled with violence, both to survive encounters with the infected as well as from run-ins with other groups of survivors that have turned desperate to find supplies. The combat has painstaking detail with varied animations for the melee combat, as well as intricate animations and modeling for taking weapons apart to install new modifications.
In a Reddit post, user Pino811 shows off one of these combat animations that they recently discovered whilst fighting a small crowd of survivors. The clip shows Ellie hitting an enemy with a wooden board and breaking it. As the enemy dies, he throws up his weapon, a hammer, which Ellie grabs out of the air before using it to beat one of the survivor's other friends. Fans shouldn't worry if they miss it when it first happens, the clip breaks it all down in slow motion so that viewers can't miss it. It is another great detail to The Last of Us 2's combat.
This discovered hidden animation joins a few other moves that have been discovered in the months since the game's release, including one discovered just last month that lets Ellie catch ammo in mid-air after killing an enemy. The hidden animations have been changing how players have approached the game within its dedicated community where no-death playthroughs and speedruns have become very popular.
Despite how divisive the game proved to be at launch, The Last of Us 2 received high praise from critics despite a split player base. With all of the new details still being discovered, however, there is no denying the incredible amount of detail that is spread out throughout the game, which is made even more impressive by the game running on the Playstation 4. Naughty Dog has been tight-lipped on what is next for the studio or whether or not the game will receive any DLC, but there are undoubtedly more hidden gems to find in The Last of Us 2 until then.
The Last of Us 2 is available now on PS4.
