The Most Difficult Calling Card Challenges In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has no shortage of calling cards to collect, and while nearly all of the titles offer cool designs, some are more impressive than others. After all, while plenty of calling cards can be obtained through buying bundles and completing simple objectives, others are far less easy to come by. Rare calling cards have always been a badge of honor in Call of Duty, and the latest Black Ops title is no exception to that rule.
While the Campaign challenges in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are simple enough to complete, the other game modes are packed with tougher objectives. Whether it be time-consuming grinds or tasks that demand unparalleled skill, there are a few calling cards that symbolize a tough journey that a player has gone on in the game. As such, if players are looking for an impressive item to show off to their opponents and teammates, equipping one of the following calling cards would be one of the best ways to do so.
Chain Killer: While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s use of skill-based matchmaking makes getting killstreaks of any kind difficult, the Chain Killer calling card takes things up a notch. Required 8 rapid kills or higher, this challenge is both absurd, and extremely luck based. After all, getting eight kills before teammates snag an elimination is incredibly tough on its own, but the fact that players need to get them in quick succession makes this calling card even more rare. With only six people on each team in traditional multiplayer modes as well, this only becomes more of a struggle.
Nuked Out: Nuked Out not only requires players to get 30 kills without dying, but it asks that this tough task be done within Free-For-All. Considering that there are no teammates to distract enemies and everyone in the map is hostile, there is no safe way to accomplish this lofty goal. Instead, players need to make use of raw skill to make this happen, and while it is less luck-based than Chain Killer, it is a fair bit harder. Another stipulation of this challenges sees players unable to use Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s scorestreaks on the way to 30-0, ensuring that things are even tougher.
Very Nuclear: Arguably the hardest challenge in Call of Duty history, this is easily the most ridiculous multiplayer objective currently available in-game. While a vast majority of players never get the 30-killstreak required for a nuclear medal, this challenge pushes players to get a laughably large total of 25 nuclear medals. If that was not enough, each medal needs to be obtained with a different weapon — meaning that 25 different guns need to be used in total. A challenge that only a few dozen players will likely ever finish, Very Nuclear is as imposing as an objective can get.
Social Distancing: For Zombies, the most skill dependent calling card challenge is undoubtedly Social Distancing. This challenge requires players to get through the first 20 rounds without being hit, an objective that is far harder to do than it sounds. With Zombies now having ranged attacks, plaguehounds leaving behind a cloud of gasses, and mini bosses like Megatons constantly spawning, there are few easy paths to this challenge for solo players. While a co-op partner can protect the person going for the challenge, it will still be tough, as even overpowered weapons like the Crossbow do not guarantee success.
Another Round?: The quintessential challenge for high round players inside Zombies mode, this calling card is only awarded to gamers that can reach round 100. While upgraded perks and field upgrades do make this easier, it is still an extreme challenge. That said, for Zombies players that feel like they have enough experience, reaching triple digits within Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s version of the survival mode should prove easier than it did in past games.
Reaper Of The Undead: This calling card is as grindy as it gets, as it requires that players rack up an absurd 1,000,000 kills within Zombies. With 50-round matches often only leading to about 2,500 kills, this process will take several weeks of play time. While plenty of players may be able to reach this milestone eventually, the path to these kills will surely not be easy. Still, with modes like Onslaught and Outbreak offering some variety for players, at least the long path to this calling card will feel like fun.
King of Silverbacks: Dead Ops Arcade 3 has plenty of grindy challenges to complete, but none of them compare with King of Silverbacks. The mode’s equivalent of Reaper of the Undead, this calling card demands 999,999,999 score from Dead Ops players. With a full match offering about 20 million points, this process takes just as long as 1 million Zombies kills. For the most hardcore of Dead Ops Arcade 3 fans, though, this is always here to grind for.
Pristine Pelt: Another skill-based challenge, Pristine Pelt sees Zombies fans tasked with killing the Mamaback without dying. Fortunately, lives can be lost in the leadup to the fight, and Dead Ops players can also make use of the new first-person playlist to give themselves an edge. Still, this is incredibly hard due to the fact that one slip-up means that three hours have been wasted. With the Mamaback taking 64 rounds to reach and having some tough attacks like gas that slows players down and an insta-kill charge, this challenge is not for the faint of heart and is best tackled with a full squad.
Season Master: In every Season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, players can unlock 20 different challenges to complete in both multiplayer and Zombies. While these challenges are not particularly hard, they are timed. This means that all challenges need to be unlocked before a Season ends. While players can do unlocked challenges in future seasons, they cannot unlock challenges they missed from past seasons. This means that dedication to the game is a must, as players will need to reach the max prestige level for every Season just to have the ability to get all the cards.
Dark Ops Master: Finally, there is Dark Ops Master. Each mode has one of these cards, and while the Dark Ops challenges for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s campaign are a walk in the park, the other two modes are not. In Zombies, players will need to get 11 of the 15 Dark Ops calling cards — meaning they can skip Dead Ops and 1,000,000 Zombies kills if they wish. For multiplayer, everything but Very Nuclear is required, meaning that there is less leeway for this special moving calling card. While all the mastery calling cards are flashy and impressive, none can match the level of prestige that comes from a Dark Ops title.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
