Animal Crossing: New Horizons Back on Top in UK Boxed Charts
Of the many highly anticipated titles to release last year, Animal Crossing: New Horizons made a strong impression on many who played it. With a relaxing environment for players to occupy and explore, a cacophony of memorable characters to interact with, and so much to see and create, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a lot to offer players. Although, even after being out for so long now, the game has managed to accrue some impressive sales figures in various parts of the world.
Back when the game first released, Animal Crossing: New Horizons became the fastest selling Nintendo Switch game ever made in a matter of months. Given that the game released right when COVID-19 quarantining was at an all-time high, it wasn't too hard to understand why Animal Crossing: New Horizons achieved such a large amount of success in such a short time frame. Amazingly, even after being out for over a year, that success has shown no signs of dwindling.
According to gamesindustry.biz, the highest selling boxed game in the UK last week was Animal Crossing: New Horizons, with Fifa 21 coming in second. The fact that the game has been out for over a year and was ranked at number 2 the week before in terms of highest selling boxed games, is quite impressive, to say the least.
Though, what's even more surprising is just how many Nintendo Switch games occupied the top ten list in terms of boxed games sold. In addition to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Ring Fit Adventure, and the Nintendo Switch version of Minecraft were all sold a large amount of boxed units in the UK last week.
It is quite stunning to see how much continued success Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to garner as time goes on. The fact that Animal Crossing characters are being featured in Build-A-Bear goes to show how the game's popularity hasn't come to an end. However, it does beg to question what fans can expect from Animal Crossing: New Horizons going forward.
This recent cross-over with Build-A-Bear will be sure to make fans excited, but as far as the game itself is concerned, there potentially could not be much more to look forward to. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has received numerous content updates over the last year and with Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently passing its one-year anniversary, there may not be much variance in terms of the kinds of things players can do during these events. Then again, fans will just have to wait and find out.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
