Capcom Arcade Stadium Gets Multi-Platform Release Date
Capcom Arcade Stadium will supposedly be the bridge that keeps older Capcom arcade games available on modern platforms, but while it made its way to the Nintendo Switch earlier in the year, its release date on other platforms has been unknown. With a listing appearing on the Microsoft Store, Capcom Arcade Stadium's wider release plans are now known.
According to the Microsoft Store, the release of the Capcom Arcade Stadium will happen May 25, 2021 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. According to Gematsu, it will also be on the PC and the PS4. The Microsoft release will include Capcom's 1943: The Battle of Midway as a free title.
When announced, the Capcom Arcade Stadium was viewed as another way to play classic Capcom arcade games that are no longer easily attainable. The platform attempts to recreate the look and feel of older devices with scanline filter and customizable displays. Games expected for the Capcom Arcade Stadium include the aforementioned 1943: The Battle of Midway, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Final Fight, and many others.
Capcom is known for many of its arcade classics, and the Capcom Arcade Stadium is one attempt to bring these to home consoles. While many of the games mentioned have made their way onto consoles in the past, Capcom will look to build off of the platform to provide an authentic arcade feel.
While the other previous-gen systems await the release, the Capcom Arcade Stadium has been on the Nintendo Switch since February 17. It currently has over 31 games available for purchase, marking a plethora of older titles available to a newer audience. All games for the Capcom Arcade Stadium were originally released before the year 2002.
Capcom Arcade Stadium is available now on the Nintendo Switch, and releases May 25 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
