Dead Space 3: Every Suit And How To Unlock Them | Game Rant
When it comes to being a horror game, Dead Space 3 is the oddest among the franchise. It focuses more on action and co-op, notably toning down on the more oppressive atmosphere of the first game. Still, some players swear that for them, it's actually the most fun title out of all the Dead Space games.
Part of the reason is due to how the game practically showers the players with some edgy and futuristic suits. Apart from the guns and the usual necromorphs, the suits are the selling point of the game; it's a goal that keeps many players going amidst all the anxiety and jump scares. For additional motivation, here are all the suits in the game and how to actually get them.
16 Engineering Suit
There's probably no question on how to get this one. It's the default suit in all Dead Space games for Isaac and, as expected, Dead Space 3 gives this one to the players as a starter armor.
This suit hasn't changed much over the games. Players can simply purchase it at the first store for 1,000 Credits and be on their way for upgrades and necromorph slaughter.
15 Security Suit
The Security Suit is the first real suit in Dead Space 3 that actually looks like it was made for combat. The Pulse Rifle bonus complements this look.
Players can acquire this suit as early as Chapter 4. Its schematic is located in a church right after the malfunctioning door. It's also similar to previous suits from other Dead Space games and looks like it was made for riots.
14 Deep Dig Suit
The Deep Dig Suit is a mean-looking one, though it's mostly for aesthetic purposes. In order to get this suit, the players need to collect all weapon parts. Do note that this is impossible in single-player mode as some weapon parts are located in co-op-only areas.
This particular suit sports an industrial appearance; however, it does appear less protective than the crude Engineering Suit.
13 Archaeologist Suit
If players are looking for another "deep digging" suit that's easier to acquire, then the Archaeologist Suit might be up most players' alley. It doesn't offer any significant bonus other than aesthetic ones, but players only need to be in Chapter 11 in the power generator for the furnace in order to get it.
The fur collar is a welcome stylistic touch for this outfit, especially since most other suits in the game prefer function over flash.
12 Arctic Survival Suit
The Arctic Survival Suit is pretty self-explanatory. It's essentially Dead Space 3's winter coat whose utility is situational in Issac and John Carver's case.
Players also don't need to look too hard for this one, as Isaac and John Carver will grab it themselves out of necessity. Like the Archaeologist Suit, it comes with a fur collar to emphasize the point of its environmental function.
11 EVA Suit
The EVA Suit is similar to the Arctic Survival Suit in that they're both automatic acquisitions for the players. Additionally, they were also both promotional suits for Dead Space 3.
This suit is used for traveling and moving in the vacuum of space. Isaac grabs the EVA suit while escaping the exploding USM Eudora. It's one of the lightest-looking suits in the game, and is more akin to a traditional astronaut's garb.
10 Flight Suit
The Flight Suit is a cosmetic option that combines the crudeness of the Deep Dig Suit as well as the sophistication of the EVA Suit. This makes it perfect for players who want a mix and match of these opposite aesthetics.
Obtaining this suit can be quite a chore. It requires that players obtain all the artifacts in the game, be they S.C.A.F., EarthGov, Unitologist, or Alien.
9 Hostile Environment Suit
One of the heaviest-looking suits in the game, the Hostile Environment Suit turns Isaac or John Carver into an absolute unit. Despite the name, it's really all cosmetic. Regardless, players who prefer the rugged style will be pleased with this one.
The Hostile Environment Suit can be unlocked after completing all optional quests throughout Dead Space 3, including the co-op ones.
8 Legionary Suit
The Legionary Suit takes the common suit template for Dead Space 3 and puts its own military shock trooper twist on it. This lends the suit an elite appearance.
It's first worn by another character during the prologue, but players can easily acquire it in Chapter 14. Due to the more robotic appearance, it's one of the top favorite suits among many Dead Space 3 fans.
7 Elite Suit
While on the topic of elite-looking suits, the Elite Suit practically takes the cake. Its most notable feature is the striking contrast of the red color for the shoulder and collar area, along with the darker helmet. John Carver's version is also different than Isaac's.
In order to get this one, players have to finish the game at least once. That means it's usually only available for second playthroughs.
6 N7 Suit
The N7 suit, for those who might not know, is a tribute to the iconic space suit of Mass Effect's Commander Shepard. It's modeled after the standard N7 suit in the franchise, ported into Dead Space 3.
Getting this suit is easy and only requires players to have a Mass Effect 3 save file. However, don't expect it to give Isaac or John any psionic powers. It's all flash and no substance.
5 First Contact Suit
Now on to DLC suits. The First Contact Suit is a variation of the EVA suit and, as such, is best suited (no pun intended) for vehicular actions.
The yellowish motif of the armor gives this look a hazard suit or industrial appearance. It's only available to anyone who preordered the "First Contact" Limited Edition of the game and can be obtained in the suit kiosk of the CMS Roanoke.
4 Marauder Suit
The Marauder Suit is a more imposing variant or a different model of the Elite Suit. This is great news for anyone who doesn't want to wait until the end of the game to obtain that particular style.
The catch is that the Marauder Suit is only available to those who purchased the Marauder Pack DLC, or the Tau Volantis Survival Kit DLC. If players have those, then they can get the Marauder Suit in CMS Roanoke's kiosk.
3 Tundra Recon Suit
The Tundra Recon Suit is a gruffer and dirtier version of the Archaeologist Suit. It appears more appropriate for deep explorations compared to other heavy-duty suits.
This outfit is only available to anyone who purchased the Tundra Recon Pack DLC, or the Tau Volantis Survival Kit DLC. As always, players can collect the suit from the CMS Roanoke kiosk.
2 Sharpshooter Suit
For players who want a louder version of the Legionary Suit, the Sharpshooter Suit ought to be a nice alternative. It's overall darker and more stylish than its original counterpart. Like most suits though, there are two variants of this, and John's is always darker.
Players who own the Sharpshooter DLC, or the Tau Volantis Survival Kit DLC can obtain it, like the rest of the DLC suits, from the CMS Roanoke kiosk.
1 Witness Suit
As for possibly the most stylish suit in the game, witness the splendor of the Witness Suit. It was but a mere reskin of the Arctic Survival Suit, but the markings made it look much more premium.
And premium it is. The Witness Suit is only granted to players who have the "Witness the Truth" bundle; it's available only to those who preordered the game. Grab it by the kiosk in CMS Roanoke if you're that rich.
