First Oculus Gaming Showcase Announced | Game Rant
Although there's already a bevy of gaming events held each year, that hasn't stopped individual developers and publishers from launching their own. The same can now be said of Facebook and Oculus, which has revealed an upcoming Oculus-centered event coming this month.
Called the Oculus Gaming Showcase, the new event will be held for the first time on April 21 at 3 pm PT. The event will be streamed for free on standard video streaming services like YouTube and Twitch, letting those who already own headsets or are interested in what virtual reality technology has to offer an opportunity to take a peek.
Oculus has stated that several upcoming games and existing games will be highlighted at the event, including Pistol Whip, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, and with appearances and updates from developers like ILMxLAB and Cloudhead Games. The reveal also claims that a few 'surprises' are planned, which begs the question as to what Oculus may be planning that hasn't already been revealed.
While Zuckerberg has stated that the Oculus Quest 3 is already in development, it's unlikely that the headset will be revealed at the Oculus Gaming Showcase. The Oculus Quest 2 is still flying off of shelves, though Facebook will likely continue to push the technology to its next level in the future to appeal to new and returning buyers. However, between the current high sales and the ongoing shortage of electronic components impacting gaming devices from PCs to next-gen consoles, virtual reality fans shouldn't hold their breath for an Oculus Quest 3 just yet.
