Horror VR Game Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife Shows Off Disturbing Gameplay in New Trailer
The World of Darkness is a vast and ever expanding setting, and its latest foray into the world of video games is taking a unique form. While its Werewolf and Vampire properties have taken the route of being action or story based RPGs, Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife is a first person, virtual reality horror game coming to Oculus Quest and Rift. The game launches tomorrow, and a new launch trailer gives players an idea of what sorts of creepy things they can expect.
The story seems to be focused on the player's character that died in a mysterious way. Instead of passing on, they are brought back as World of Darkness' version of a Wraith and given strange, supernatural powers. Unfortunately, they also seem to have lost their memory, meaning players will need to try and uncover what the cause of their mysterious death was.
The trailer below shows this to a degree, but also has a heavy focus on the grotesque enemies that players will be encountering. Fear and sanity are big parts of the World of Darkness tabletop experience, so it makes perfect sense for this to be translated into a virtual reality horror game experience.
Fan reaction to the trailer is mostly positive, with many feeling anxious to figure out what secrets Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife holds. Early reviews and impressions seem to mirror this sentiment, with many players saying that the game is truly a lot scarier than they expected. For those with a stomach for that type of thing, it is sure to be a treat when it releases on April 22nd.
