Marvel’s Avengers - The Best Options For MCU Suits | Game Rant
After months of requests, Crystal Dynamics has finally promised Marvel’s Avengers fans that outfits based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe are coming to the game. The first batch of outfits will also be coming soon, with May’s upcoming Red Room Takeover event set to see the premium skins joining the game’s marketplace. Thus far, four of these MCU skins have leaked, with, Avengers: Endgame variants seen for Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Captain America. While all the suits are faithful to the film and look great, there is no shortage of MCU suits for Crystal Dynamics to add to the game.
Beginning back in 2008 with the original Iron Man movie, the MCU has grown greatly over the past decade, becoming a phenomenon on the level of Star Wars. Featuring 23 movies and some Disney+ shows thus far, there have been no shortage of amazing looks in the Marvel films. With The Avengers at the forefront of the MCU, the core team has received some of the very best designs in the movies. As such, Crystal Dynamics should look to the best of the best when picking skins to add to Marvel’s Avengers.
While several Avengers: Endgame skins have leaked for the game, Iron Man’s costume has not yet made an appearance. However, it would be great to see it included, as the outfit is one of the coolest armor sets that Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark has ever worn. Adopting a similar color scheme to Iron Man’s original comic book costume, as gold armor covers the arms and legs of Iron Man, the outfit is a nice change from the overpowering red of Stark’s usual suits. The red being used sparingly makes it stand out more, while the gold faceplate on the helmet fits perfectly with the rest of the costume.
Similar to Iron Man, Thor’s Endgame look has not yet leaked for Marvel’s Avengers. Still, it would be awesome to see it included, even if it would be challenging for Crystal Dynamics. Likely needing to make a separate body type for “fat Thor,” the result would be worth it, as the skin would be a great change of pace from what the hero currently has to wear in-game. A shirtless variant could also be included, though the highlight would be the stylized long beard and awesome black armor worn by Thor in the final battle. Even if the body type is not changed, using Thor’s special beard and armor would make for a must-have skin. If Crystal Dynamics wanted to go the extra mile with this skin, they could even reskin Mjolnir to give Thor players access to the Stormbreaker axe.
While Captain America fans are already going to be seeing Steve Rogers don his iconic Endgame look, his most popular MCU design remains the Stealth Suit. Featured in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this blue and white costume features no red anywhere in its design. Instead, white stripes and a star are seen on Captain America’s chest, with the suit being intentionally streamlined and less flashy. A personal favorite of actor Chris Evans, many prefer this suit over most of Cap’s looks — though Endgame’s scaled suit does give it a run for its money.
One great costume to see worked into Marvel’s Avengers is actually one of the most recent MCU designs. In Black Widow’s upcoming solo movie, Natasha can be seen wearing an awesome white outfit, and it would be exciting to see Crystal Dynamics' Black Widow do the same. Helping her red belt buckle stand out even more, the outfit is a noticeable change from her expected dark attire. Including the skin would also see Black Widow getting longer hair than she has in any of her current costumes, once again serving to make this look special. Possibly releasing as a tie-in promotion for the movie, this outfit could give gamers a way to continue the action they watched on-screen.
Marvel’s Avengers included the Unworthy Thor skin from the comics in the game, an with that look also including short hair for the God of Thunder, it is similar to his Ragnarok attire. However, the Thor: Ragnarok costume sees the son of Odin in full-on gladiator attire, with an awesome cape and green shoulder pads giving him a distinct appearance. The red face paint on Thor’s eye also helps to make this a great skin that many would want to wear as they fight through AIM. With options also available for the sleeveless black armor from the end of the film, which also saw Thor wearing an eye patch, Taika Waititi’s Sakaarian look deserves to get some love. Seeing Thor equip the swords and shield via a matching emote could also be fun.
While Iron Man 2 usually joins The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World at the bottom of most fans’ MCU rankings, the movie’s unique suit is of a much higher quality than the film itself. Coming from a briefcase, a fun nod to the old Iron Man comics where Tony Stark kept his suit inside the same storage unit, the “football” or Mark 5 is a gorgeous set of armor. Seeing the suit form around Tony is awesome, as is its final design. Swapping the gold with silver, and covering a majority of the costume in the color, the color pattern is one of the most unique that Iron Man saw inside the MCU. The various lines and edges on all portions of the suit are a nice reminder of its origin as a briefcase as well, and it would be a neat costume to see in-game. A special emote could even be included that shows off the armor in suitcase form.
While Hulk’s purple jumpsuit attire from Avengers: Endgame has leaked, there is potential for Crystal Dynamics to include a fun variant of the costume as well. Giving hulk his cozy sweatshirt and glasses from the Professor Hulk scenes could make for a more lighthearted skin addition. With Hulk already having some serious skins in the form of his Gladiator and Maestro costumes, giving him something more like the suited Joe Fixit could be great. With Crystal Dynamics limited as to what they can do with the gamma monster, leaning into absurdity is hardly a bad idea. Emotes could be added alongside the skin, referencing the time travel meme or the smarter Hulk taking pictures with his adoring fans.
Rounding out the list of solo MCU skins is Nomad Captain America. Seen in Avengers: Infinity War, this version of Steve Rogers sports longer hair and a full beard. In addition, the star is missing from his armored costume, a neat creative touch that hints at the hero’s time on the run after Captain America: Civil War. One great touch could see the addition of Black Panther’s mini, arm-based shields, with the special gauntlets making in-game melee attacks look a bit more devastating. A great emote could see Cap saying "I'm Steve Rogers," a callback to his interaction with Guardians of the Galaxy member Groot.
Finally, Marvel’s Avengers could add the red and white Quantum suits from Avengers: Endgame. These matching costumes could be given to every hero, allowing players to adorn their heroes with the specially-made time travel outfits. Seeing characters like Thor and Black Widow in a helmet would be different, and it could serve as another great homage to the end of the MCU’s Infinity Saga. Regardless of whether the Quantum suits would be included together in one big shop bundle or added to the outfit pool once Marvel’s Avengers’ cosmetic rework arrives, seeing them in-game would be a welcome surprise.
Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
