Monster Hunter Stories Discounted 75% on Mobile | Game Rant
With the release of the sequel, Monster Stories 2, on the horizon, it seems that Capcom wants to give interested fans a chance to experience the first Monster Hunter Stories, by discounting the mobile version of the game for a limited time. The discount is available on both the Google Play and Apple Store, so fans can take advantage of this sale regardless of which type of device they own.
The game was originally priced at $19.99, but has been discounted to $4.99. This discount is not permanent however, as both the Apple Store and Google Play store note that the game will only be discounted until May 9, 2021.
For those unfamiliar with the premise of Monster Hunter Stories, the protagonist is known as a rider this time around, not a hunter. Riders work with monsters to accomplish their goals and this is where the Pokemon style aspects of the game come into play. Players will be able to collect several monsters and use them in battle against other monsters.
Both the rider and the monster participate in turn based combat with the monster choosing its own actions, while the player chooses the commands for the rider. The monster can be specifically commanded at the cost of what is essentially a super meter. These aspects, in addition to the rock, paper, scissors style of combat, it successfully differentiates itself from Pokemon.
For players who may not be interested in playing the game on mobile, it is still available on 3DS, but currently is listed digitally at the full price of $39.99. That being said, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is not very far off, as it's releasing for the Switch this July.
The sequel will contain elements that players would expect, such as additional weapon types for the rider as only four of Monster Hunter's 14 weapon types were available in the original. Additional monsters such as Mizutsune and Pukei-Pukei are also being added.
Monster Hunter Stories is now available on Mobile and 3DS.
