Ninja Rage Quits League of Legends and Quits Twitch Stream Early
Just five minutes into a ranked League of Legends game, Tyler "Ninja" Blevins suddenly abandoned the session and closed the game, shortly ending the Twitch livestream afterward.
The popular streamer Ninja has been grinding League of Legends ranked games over the last month. After reaching Gold in the current season, he recently managed to make it to Platinum 4. And while reaching such a rank after weeks of both grueling and exciting matches is certainly a feat, it's not unexpected for the Fortnite streamer. Ninja previously reached Diamond back during Seasons 4 and 5 and Gold during Seasons 6 and 7. While Platinum 4 might be unimpressive for some, it often takes dozens of hours to reach, but it's unclear how much further Ninja will make it as the games grow more and more competitive.
The ranked grind evidently proved to be overwhelming in a stream a couple of days ago. Ninja had been streaming League of Legends for a couple of hours before his final match. He chose the ADC role, running bot as Tristana alongside a Karma as support. But to Ninja, it seemed like his support wasn't holding up their end of the push. It's a well-known saying that League can bring out the worst in people, and it's easy to blame teammates when rounds aren't going as planned, much like with any team composition-based games.
The fallout started when the opposing team hit level 2 before Ninja and his support teammate, leading to a quick death on Karma. Ninja blamed this incidence on a lack of help on Karma's part, leaving him on his own in the bottom lane for a moment. But even once Karma returns, the help isn't enough to gank the opposing Pantheon, who gets a kill off on Ninja, leading to immediate frustration.
Ninja begins one of his classic rages, disbelieving that this Karma has made it to Platinum and "doesn't understand the importance of level 2 push." This slowdown quickly results in the opposing team snowballing from there, and Ninja is shortly after killed by Pantheon once again in a 3-vs-2 gank in the bottom lane. At this point, Ninja is fed up and says that he's going to "quit streaming," though he tries once more in the bottom lane, exclaiming that he is "two games away" from Platinum 3.
However, Ninja is unsuccessful and makes a reckless move to get a kill off on the other team, getting himself killed in the process. But unlike past rage quits, Ninja doesn't scream and curse. Instead, he stretches his arms out, acting as if he's suddenly tired, bids his viewers farewell, and ends the stream to "relax for the rest of the evening."
But Ninja resumed streaming League of Legends games yesterday, continuing up the ranks in Season 11.
