Outriders Removing Legendary Rewards for Redoing Hunts and Bounties
Outriders has been available for one week as of today, and its developers have taken to Reddit to post a six-part update on the game. The six-part Outriders update covers plans to fix persistent bugs as well as balance changes to different aspects of the game. One of the most notable changes is the fix to a bug that unintentionally rewarding players with extra Legendary gear.
Over the last week, players have found an exploit with the matchmaking system and the repeatable side quest hunts. The exploit would reward players with Legendary gear when another player in the same lobby finished their hunts. This would need to happen after the original player had already completed the entire side quest and received the guaranteed Legendary at the end of the quest. This matchmaking exploit was allowing players to unintentionally farm multiple Legendaries in a short amount of time.
In response to the exploit, Outriders has released the first part of its patches that will be removing Legendary rewards on subsequent completions of the Historian, Bounty Hunts, and Monster Hunts repeatable side quests. This will let players acquire their guaranteed Legendary on their first completion of each questline. Repeating the quest lines will no longer award Legendary weapons or gear. Square Enix has stated that it still wants to make the quest lines worth the effort of repeating them. The next part of these patches will address different aspects of the game like the vulnerable status effect.
Players have already taken to social media to voice their thoughts and concerns on the change with some sharing their ideas of a fix. Many agree that a fix for the exploit is needed but removing Legendries from repeating the questline, removes the desire to repeat the questline. While there is no word on how Square Enix will make these repeatable quests worth the effort, some players are still concerned that this is a bad move for the game.
Outriders players have been enjoying finding new Legendary weapons, armor, and discovering the unique build potential that Outriders has to offer in its endgame. Legendary armor has unique perks for wearing three pieces of the same armor set. Limiting access to new Legendries will only make it harder for players to achieve the armor pieces needed to start playing with their first armor set bonus.
The news about the fix to the quests exploit comes alongside more patch notes and balancing changes that address: Expeditions, Bullet Abilities, and other aspects of the game. Players will see in game balance changes to class abilities and the fix for the quests exploit on April 8. General patch updates surrounding bugs is currently scheduled for next week, but no official date has been set.
Outriders is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
