Retro Survival Horror Game Bloodwash Announces Release Plans
Indie horror game fans have another exciting project arriving soon. This past week, developers Jordan King and Henry Hoare announced their new project, Bloodwash, is nearing release. The survival horror game is tentatively planned to launch summer 2021 on Steam, published by indie horror favorite Puppet Combo's publishing label Torture Star Video.
Bloodwash follows in the footsteps of the modern resurgence of PS1-era survival horror experiences mixed with golden-era giallo slasher films of the early 80s. Specifically, Bloodwash features a mysterious killer named Womb Ripper targeting pregnant women, including a hapless victim who thought she was just making a quick trip to a local 24-hour laundromat. Players can assume they'll be encountering washing machines filled with silly amounts of blood and more.
As for gameplay, Bloodwash mixes survival horror and adventure game elements. Primarily, players will explore their environments to take in the spooky details around them. Based on a trailer, fans can expect a thriller's pacing with stretches of calm, sudden jump scares, and heart-pumping sequences. A short demo released in October 2020 showed that players can also expect a lot of unsettling NPCs, as well as plentiful voiceover making for a uniquely authentic 80s horror film experience.
Further details regarding Bloodwash's launch will likely be shared closer to its summer release window. In the meantime, horror game fans can wishlist the game on Steam while they wait for an update. More information will hopefully be coming soon, as Bloodwash currently only has the single trailer that's more of a teaser.
