Survival Management Sim Sheltered Sequel Announced | Game Rant
Perhaps it's just a sign of the times, but post-apocalyptic survival sims, and particularly nuclear bomb shelter sims, have had a sudden surge in popularity. Among them, Sheltered stands out as a strong early example having released in 2016. Sheltered offers a compelling story regarding four family members striving to survive a nuclear disaster. Now, developer Unicube is ready to show what comes next, announcing Sheltered 2 for release in 2021.
Sheltered 2 expands on the scope of the original game in a significant way. Players won't just be responsible for a family in Sheltered 2. Instead, they'll be taking on the leadership of an entire faction. And where one faction is found, multiple are ultimately involved. As such, players will be simulating relationships between their own faction of post-apocalyptic survivors and others, whether that requires diplomacy or war. In-depth systems like trade and exploration will play key roles in Sheltered 2's faction system.
Other key features planned for Sheltered 2 include complex resource management, permadeath tied to a player's faction leader, turn-based combat with opposing factions and hostile enemies, customizable characters for faction members, and discoverable vehicles spread throughout the wasteland. Sheltered 2 will be a much bigger and complex game than its predecessor.
Obviously, there are many more changes from Sheltered to Sheltered 2 than just the game's bigger features. Sheltered 2's announcement trailer shows how the game has been improved visually with 3D graphics, for example. Publisher Team17 will be sure to share more information about Sheltered 2's gameplay and story as the survival sim's release date gets nearer.
Sheltered 2 releases on PC in 2021.
