The Best Witcher 3 Cosplays | Game Rant
Thought by many to be one of the best games ever made, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from Polish developer CD Projekt Red inspired a huge fan base that only keeps growing. Wild Hunt was first released in 2015, the third installment in The Witcher video games series. However, the history of The Witcher goes back even further. In 1993, The Last Wish was written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, kickstarting the expansive universe all about Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher.
Soon enough, a next-gen version of The Witcher 3 will make its way to PS5 and Xbox Series X. No doubt a new group a fans will spawn from this, and long-time fans will have a new opportunity to get back in the game. Like many popular franchises, The Witcher is often a source of inspiration for cosplayers. There are so many amazing cosplayers that have donned the identities of a variety of The Witcher 3's human, and monstrous, characters. Below are some of the best.
No talk about The Witcher cosplay would be complete without mentioning Maul as Geralt of Rivia, star of the The Witcher books and games. Maul Cosplay, otherwise known as Ben, has been a professional German stuntman and cosplayer for years. Among his creations have been Kratos from God of War, Darth Maul from Star Wars, Soldier 76 from Overwatch, and many more iconic characters. His Geralt cosplay is possibly the best around, and Ben has donned the armor and swords of the Witcher for several years. He has collaborated with several companies, including Good Smile Company for its Geralt Nendoroid. Ben will often do joint cosplay sessions as well with other characters in The Witcher universe, like with Sladkoslava's Ciri below.
As the primary star of every incarnation of The Witcher franchise, Geralt is a popular choice for many male cosplayers interested in the property. With a Witcher 3 quote by Geralt of Rivia, Taryn Cosplay introduces his version of the iconic character. Based in Italy, Taryn is also a professional cosplayer, as well as a performer and costume maker. His most recent cosplays include Viego, The Ruined King from League of Legends, and Johnny Silverhand from Cyberpunk 2077, another property of CD Projekt Red. His costume is highly detailed, and is another instance of Geralt coming to life.
Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, one cosplayer decided to mesh the aesthetic of the new game with one of The Witcher's most powerful sorceresses. Oksana Frost decided to put her own twist on Yennefer of Vengerberg, imagining her in the bright neon lights of Night City. Her cosplay is a perfect adaptation of the character, complete with artistic edits showing off CyberYennefer's techno sorcery.
Know as DariaSol on Reddit and Dayhazzza on Twitch, this Ukrainian cosplayer has the more traditional take of the powerful sorceress, Yennefer. DariaSol is a content creator relatively new to the cosplay scene, but already has the dedication that many in the community have. She has previously taken on the roles of 2B from NieR: Automata and Yuno Gasai from Future Diary. Her inspiration for Yennefer of Vegerberg stems from one of the character's alternate costumes from The Witcher 3.
Next up is a cosplay of Cirilla Riannon, otherwise known as Ciri, and a sort of adopted daughter for Geralt who is briefly playable in The Witcher 3. Ciri may even be the protagonist in The Witcher 4, whenever it comes out. This Ciri comes from NargaAoki Cosplay, a duo based in Saint Petersburg Russia. The full-time cosplaying duo started in 2008, mostly with characters from video games. One half of the duo, Natalia, has cosplayed as characters ranging from K/DA Ahri from League of Legends to Rey from Star Wars to Jaina Proudmore from World of Warcraft. She looks perfect in the role of Ciri with her game-accurate costume, and several phot and video shoots help sell her as the character.
Another impressive cosplay is of Triss Merigold as she appears in The Witcher 3. This comes from Ri Care, who is a cosplayer and model based in Canada. Recent cosplays from Ri include Lisa, the Electro-element sorceress from Genshin Impact, and Daniela, one of Lady Dimitrescu's "daughters" from the upcoming Resident Evil Village. For Triss Merigold, Ri not only committed to an accurate costume, but she also set up an actual ring of fire for the magical image below.
Closing out this list is none other than Elena Samko, or SamkoCosplay. A Polish cosplayer and make-up artist, Samko's creations often feature video game or comic characters, such as Mera from Aquaman or the Lusty Argonian Maid from Elder Scrolls. However, she has been cosplaying as numerous characters and monsters from The Witcher for years, all so impressive that it has even caught the attention of the official Witcher Twitter account. Her detailed and frighteningly monstrous cosplays cover The Witcher 3's noonwraiths, water hags, and Crones.
Samko hasn't just cosplayed The Witcher 3's monsters either. She has donned the identities of Yennefer of Vengerberg and Triss Marigold several times as well. All together, her several-years-worth of immaculate costuming truly makes her the ultimate Witcher cosplayer.
There are so many cosplayers who put time and effort into crafting amazing costumes, and these have been some of the best. Netflix is still producing The Witcher shows, and CD Projekt Red is already developing a new Witcher game, so it looks like the IP will live on for many more years. There is no doubt that many more cosplayers will put their own spin on some of these iconic characters.
