World of Warcraft: Shadowlands - How to Get the Slime Serpent Mount

While World of Warcraft: Shadowlands players have defeated Castle Nathria, conquered each other in PvP, and timed the highest keystones in Mythic+, there are still several months before new content arrives with Patch 9.1. With this time, many secret cosmetics included with the expansion's launch back in November are still waiting to be found. One of these rewards is the Slime Serpent mount, and the community has finally discovered how to unlock it.

Since Shadowlands' initial release, players already knew getting this recolored N'Zoth serpent mount would involve Plaguefall based on its journal description. Compared to previous secrets that involved player cooperation or scouring multiple zones, however, the Slime Serpent only requires defeating the last two bosses in heroic or mythic difficulty solo to claim this prize. Due to increased scaling and additional boss abilities on mythic, this guide will cover getting the mount on heroic.

Because players will be doing two Plaguefall fights by themselves, tanks with healing and magic damage reduction such as Vengeance Demon Hunters or Blood Death Knights are the easiest classes to get the mount. Alternatively, DPS that have pets like Beast Mastery Hunter can deal with mechanics like stacking DOTs and debuffs have similar success compared to other fragile classes.

The first two bosses can be skipped and only require dealing with several trash pulls that go around them.

  1. Pull the 2 Plaguerocs in the center hill. Beware of their Wind Buffet spell which can knock players back into other trash packs.
  2. Pull the Decaying Flesh Giant blocking the arena before Globgrog. Interrupt Creepy Crawlers and kite around the AOE pools that periodically spawn.
  3. Keep to the right while running through the arena, try to minimalize the stacking DOT.
  4. Pull the single Plagueroc and keep to the left to avoid other patrols/packs.
  5. Go through the gauntlet killing Virulax Blightweaver and any triggered Slime Tentacles with cooldowns and the Plagueborer explosions.
  6. Run through the middle of Doctor Ickus' area and up the stairs.
  7. Run through the right side dealing with the trash pack that has a Venomous Sniper.
  8. Kill both trash packs in Domina Venomblade's area separately. Drag mobs away from the Defender of Many Eyes or have CC ready when Bulwark of Maldraxxus is cast.

Night Elves' Shadowmeld and characters with invisibility potions can stealth through several of these packs to save more time. Note that dying and releasing at any point will send players back to the start of the dungeon.

Soloing Domina Venomblade boils down to quickly getting the Brood Assassins out of stealth before their Assassinate DOT stacks too high. Save movement abilities to get to the webs and AOE them down once they group up on the boss. Death Knight is especially good since Anti-Magic Shell can immune the Shadow Ambush stun and Assassinate casts that will overlap during the add phase at least once during this fight.

Margrave Stradama is a much easier solo fight for tanks and DPS. Always stay in melee range, stand in the Malignant Spawn add's Touch of Slime zone, and focus them while cleaving damage on the boss. Save defensive cooldowns and disease cleanses for any Infectious Rain casts that come out when HP drops too low. After two tentacle-slam intermission phases at 70 and 40-percent, Margrave Stradama won't summon any more adds and just cast tentacle slams repeatedly while attacking. Even as a tank, getting hit by a slam will kill the player, so keep moving when they appear and have Cheat Deaths like the Sun King's Salvation trinket if possible.

After killing Margrave Stradama, head back to the previous hall and interact with the teleporter to fly back outside to Domina Venomblade's area. There will now be a Curious Slime Serpent spawned on the outer edge of the left side near a Plaguebelcher. Simply walk up to the World of Warcraft NPC and click it to start a "Petting" channel which will automatically add the mount to the player's collection once completed.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is available on PC.
