Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids - A Complete Guide To The Rathdown Build Up Quest
One of the least expected new mechanics in the Wrath of the Druids DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla is trading, which is integral for the building-up of Dublin's renown. Before some of the Ireland-only weapons, armor, unique items can be acquired, players must set up some Trading Posts in order to get the special currencies to essentially buy them.
To begin this business venture, players must complete the quest "Rathdown Build Up", during which one establishes the first of many Trading Posts in Ireland. While this quest isn't that tricky, there are some facts gamers should observe in order to complete it as efficiently as possible, for the results of this quest affect how much special currency one can generate.
After reaching Chapter 2 of the main quests in Wrath of the Druids, Eivor can speak to Azar, the one-eyed merchant from a foreign land. Doing so will allow the player to pick up the "Rathdown Build Up" quest, which is the first in a series to unlock Trading Posts all over Ireland.
Azar will reveal information about a hostile-owned location that can be turned into a hub for profit that will benefit Dublin in a number of ways. Although this quest is optional, it's a great one to pick up early on, as the passive generation of special currencies can be taken advantage of sooner.
The friendly merchant will mark Rathdown on Eivor's map, and this will indicate it to be north of Dublin as well as east of Boyne Tombs. When one approaches the location, be sure to scout it out from above with Synin's help, as this will reveal that the enemies are few in number and scattered throughout the circular structure.
Either stealth or open combat can work here, as there are no unique enemies, though there are a couple of elite ones, so don't get overconfident. Once the gang of thugs is cleared out, the player can interact with a sign just outside of the only structure within the stone confines of Rathdown to begin building it up right away.
Before getting too deep into this leg of the quest, make sure to stockpile a ton of Trading Post Supplies (found in Raids all over Ireland), as this resource is needed greatly to set up a proper Trading Post. If one has a decent hoard (700 to 800 Trading Post Supplies), then Eivor can fully upgrade Rathdown immediately, which saves one from having to return after doing more Raids.
In addition to the main structure, one can also build several smaller ones within Rathdown. These increase the amount of Cloth generated every minute and are worth investing Trading Post Supplies into if one wishes to make the most of their business ventures in Ireland.
There are three additional structures that can be built to increase the amount of Cloth gained per minute. Each takes a fair chunk of Trading Post Supplies to build, though are worth the investment for the constant returns in special currency.
This allows workers to stockpile goods in order to allow for better trading flow. There are a couple of minor trinkets to be looted, but this one is mostly for aesthetics and lore (in addition to the bonus Cloth gained).
The most immediately useful out of the potential Rathdown upgrades, as it comes with loaded berry bushes and free arrows; useful things to have around after the skirmish to claim this Trading Post.
Tired workers need a place to rest and recharge, and this is the place for them to do so. No in-game benefits besides the bonus Cloth gained, though, it does look nice and fills out the area in a satisfying manner.
The player does not need to fully upgrade Rathdown to complete the quest, however, it is worth the time to do if one cares about this mechanic and trading in general. When done at the Trading Post, head back to Dublin and meet up with Azar at their outdoor office.
When this quest is turned in, more Trade Quests will become available, however, one must still find the potential sites of the new Trading Posts before Eivor can claim and upgrade them. Additionally, quite a lot more Trading Post Supplies need to be plundered during Raids before these quests are even worth doing. Thankfully, this won't be an issue for most players, as this is what Vikings do best.
