Destiny 2 Previews Hung Jury and Season of the Splicer Weapons
Destiny 2 is less than a week away from the launch of Season 14, Season of the Splicer, leaving many Guardians eager to obtain new weapons and gear. Guardians were treated to an armor preview just a few days ago, and today they got to preview some of the upcoming weapons for Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 has previously been under fire for having poor diversity in its weapon selection, making new weapons an exciting prospect to many Guardians. In the latest This Week at Bungie post, the studio outlined some of the new weapons coming with Season of the Splicer.
Starting with the Seasonal Track, Guardians will have three weapons to earn: The new Cryosthesia 77K Exotic Sidearm, a Shotgun, and a Heavy Machine Gun. Season Pass owners will unlock the Cryosthesia 77K on their first track, while free-to-play players can unlock the Exotic Sidearm later in the Seasonal Track.
Bungie shows four other Legendary weapons that appear to be a Sidearm, Breach Loaded Grenade Launcher, a possible Scout Rifle, and a possible Pulse Rifle. These weapons share a new themed look to match the ascetic of the Season of the Splicer. The new ritual weapon is the Null Composure Fusion Rifle, earned by completing a new quest in Destiny 2's Season 14. Once unlocked, Guardians can collect Crucible, Gambit, and Vanguard-themed weapon ornaments to give this Fusion Rifle the look they want.
Crucible, Gambit, and Vanguard Strikes will get twelve new post-game rewards, with four new weapons per activity. Bungie shows off a Crucible-themed Hand Cannon, Vanguard-themed Breach Loaded Grenade Launcher, and a Gambit-themed Submachine Gun.
For veteran players, three weapons from Destiny 1 are returning with Season of the Splicer, with the most talked-about being the Hung Jury. Destiny veterans are already blowing up Twitter in response to the Scout Rifles' return to Destiny 2. Like previously returning weapons, the Scout Rifle, Fusion Rifle, and Sniper Rifle will be available on a weekly rotation in the Nightfall playlist. The Adept versions of the returning Destiny 1 weapons like the Hung Jury will be available on June 22, 2021, when Grandmaster Nightfalls become available again.
Bungie finishes its weapon preview for Season 14 by letting Guardians know that more weapons are coming with Season of the Splicer, but they are being left for players to discover. New Perks and new Seasonal Artifacts will also be available that will further reward Guardians playing Season of the Splicer.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
