Elden Ring Fan is Creating an Unofficial Soundtrack | Game Rant
More news about Elden Ring has to be coming soon, or so fans of From Software's games are desperately hoping. It's been months since the last substantial announcement regarding Elden Ring. And despite rumors, its next appearance remains unconfirmed, as well. It should be no surprise then that From Software fans are making the most of these stressful times in interesting and surprisingly productive ways. Case in point, 18-year-old Reddit user ongoaviv1 (or AvivMusic on Youtube) hand-making their own Elden Ring soundtrack.
Early Saturday, ongoaviv1 shared their latest composition on Reddit. The piece is titled "Moliath, Consumer of Worlds," and is described as music for an imagined Elden Ring boss fight. As befits the soundtrack of Elden Ring, the song is an epic orchestral song with ringing bells, a digital choir, and a pounding timpani drum foundation. What's most impressive about the song is, of course, that ongoaviv1 made it entirely by themself.
According to one of ongoaviv1's responses in the Reddit thread, they make all of their music using the FL Studio digital workstation software. From there, they choose different sound libraries, such as Cinematic Strings, bass, strings, and percussion libraries from Spitfire Audio, and Metropolis Ark for the choral track. ongoaviv1 describes their music-making efforts as "experiments of my skills" as they work to master their orchestral video game music composition.
As if the lone track wasn't impressive enough, Moliath, Consumer of Worlds is the thirteenth song composed by ongoaviv1 for their fan-made Elden Ring soundtrack. Nine months ago they uploaded eight different songs, with titles such as "Awakening," "Forgotten Hills," and "Great Beast Adriella." A new composition has been uploaded every two-to-three months since, and ongoaviv1 has made no mention of stopping. In his Youtube video's description, ongoaviv1 asks other From Software fans to "enjoy some self-made content while we're waiting for Elden Ring."
Reading some of their descriptions for each song, it becomes clear how excited ongoaviv1 is for Elden Ring's eventual release. Each song has a story to it, as ongoaviv1 imagines full levels filled with encounters or lengthy boss fights with fantastical monstrosities across multiple phases to go along with their music tracks. Hopefully, Elden Ring delivers an experience that lives up to ongoaviv1's imagination.
For those curious as to what ongoaviv1's goals are, around five months ago they mention that they've considered eventually working on video games and that it's going to happen,"when the time comes." Then, just two weeks ago, they shared their first songs for an in-development Roblox game named Wasted Will. It's fittingly inspired by Dark Souls and ongoaviv1 will be composing the game's music. The wait for Elden Ring has forced ongoaviv1 to take matters into their own hands
Elden Ring is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
