Miitopia: All Jobs | Game Rant
The Miitopia remaster has at last released for the Nintendo Switch. Originally released as a DS title an entire decade ago, the new Miitopia looks to capture the attention of Switch owners through its zany combat, charming art style, and deep customization.
One of the biggest appealing factors Miitopia has is its freedom of choice for players. The game features a deep Mii customizer, one far more adept than most who only created them on the Wii will remember. In addition to cosmetic customization, it also features a wide variety of jobs for players to select from; 14, to be exact. Each job, which effectively acts as a class type, comes with their own unique abilities, strengths and weaknesses. This breakdown will give newcomers the gist of what each of Miitopia's jobs are about.
The "default" jobs in Miitopia are the ones available for the first world. The game starts out with a total of six options, while other job batches will become available once players have progressed past certain points.
- Warrior - The Warrior job is one that focuses on single-target damage and party defense. Boasting a high level of HP, Attack, and Defense, the Warrior is the ideal physical member of a party, although it is fairly slow, and starts with zero MP.
- Mage - The Mage is somewhat the inverse of the Warrior, focusing on magic attacks that either hit a single enemy for high damage or damage multiple foes. The only job in the game able to surpass level 50, the Mage specializes in using Fire, Lightning, and Explosion spells, all of which have several upgrades.
- Cleric - As is the case with even the most classic of RPGs, the Cleric job is the party healer. Clerics possess a high amount of MP, speed, and magic, while lacking in defense. The Cleric job lets players restore HP, revive fallen teammates, purge debuffs, and even attack enemies with light magic.
- Thief - The trickster of the default jobs, the Thief possesses extremely high speed, along with decent HP and MP levels. The Thief job employs a wide array of abilities, including many randomized attacks, booby traps, sneak attacks, and of course, stealing.
- Pop Star - One of the sillier jobs players can select from the start is Pop Star. The Pop Star features more clothing options than any other job, with none of the options gender locked. A support role, Pop Stars have plenty of stat buffing and area-of-affect skills for players to employ.
- Chef - The Chef job possesses a variety of cooking skills, able to whip up healing nourishment for party members while also dishing out damage. The Chef features exceptional attack and defense stats.
The only region playable in the Miitopia demo, Greenhorne is the first region in the full version of the game. Once players have cleared this area, three more Jobs will become available.
- Cat - Looking like it came straight out of Super Mario 3D World, the Cat boasts high Attack and Speed, with the ability to use multi-hit attacks and strength boosts to deal high damage. Additionally, the Cat Job is good at restoring itself, armed with a number of skills that can heal HP and clear status effects.
- Imp - Armed with a stereotypical devil pitchfork, the Imp specializes in magic damage and draining enemies of their stats. The Imp has unique skills that allow it to steal both HP and MP from enemies, as well as lower their defenses. MP restoration and positive status effects are other highlights.
- Scientist - Armed with a flask and an outfit that looks dangerously close to Rick Sanchez, the Scientist's forte is area-of-effect attacks and support skills. Beyond attacking multiple enemies, it can bestow attack buffs and immunize party members against status effects.
Neksdor is Miitopia's second region, largely comprised of desert with Wetland Way and a pair of oases the only major exception. Another three Jobs will be unlocked once Neksdor is cleared.
- Tank - When gamers think of Tanks, something like Overwatch's Reinhardt usually comes to mind. However, Miitopia's is literally just that; a Mii in a tank costume. The Tank Job has very high offense and defense, but its attitude oftentimes causes resentment from party members. Having Pop Star and Tank together is a good idea.
- Princess - Unlocked once players reach Realm of the Fey, the Princess' specialties lie in restoring ally's MP and status effects, as well as putting status effects on enemies.
- Flower - "Harnessing the power of nature," Flower is a bit of a hybrid of Mage and Cleric, able to heal and recover while also dealing a decent amount of magical damage. Flower's default attacks hit all enemies.
While there are normally 12 Miitopia jobs, there are two extra ones players who go the extra mile can unlock, the versatile Elf and powerful Vampire. Both require the use of charms to access.
- Elf - Unlockable after retrieving the Elven Charm from the secret grotto at the end of Galados Isle, the Elf is a "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of job. Utilizing the bow, the Elf excels in everything except for its low speed and HP stats, making the inclusion of a healer type fairly necessary.
- Vampire - After players acquire the Bat Charm from helping a vampire in the Travelers' Hub, they can access the Vampire job. As would be expected, this job can steal HP from enemies, in addition to a "Curse" ability that potentially inflict half of taken damage back onto the attacker. Vampires possess more HP than any other job, but are also the slowest of all.
And that wraps up all of the available jobs in Miitopia. Players who have yet to spring for the game can always try out the free Miitopia demo, available on the Nintendo Switch store.
Miitopia is available now on Switch.
