Monster Hunter World: Where To Find The Lumps Of Meat In The Meat Of The Matter Quest
The "Meat of the Matter" quest in Monster Hunter World appears too straightforward based on the objectives. However, it can take a long time to complete if hunters have no idea where to find the elusive meat.
Monster Hunter is notorious for having tedious find and transport quests as filler content in the game. They are obviously only a small part of the game as a whole, but spending hours looking for a piece of meat can detract from the experience. Gamers that want to get through this quest as quickly as possible and move on to better things should follow the tips in this guide.
Hunters will have to be at least level 8 to have access to the "Meat of the Matter." It is acquired from Meowscular Chef, and gamers will have up to 50 minutes to complete it. Taking the Ghillie Mantle on the journey will be useful, as there are plenty of creatures on the prowl. The Intimidator skill is just as useful to repel enemies and reduce aggro. Similarly, the Marathon Runner and Pro Transporter skills will come in handy during the long trek.
Everyone should start the quest with max stamina. Eating at the canteen and bringing along rations will help keep the character's stamina high. High stamina will help gamers get through the quest as quickly as possible. Dash Juice also provides a stamina boost for those that are willing to purchase it. Speed is key when attempting to finish the objectives before the timer runs out.
Players will want to travel over to Central Camp (Map 11) in the Rotten Vale, which will be marked on the map. The first lump of meat is located in Odogaron's Den on the east of map 13. Anyone that has fought Odogaron before will remember this location, as he will run and hide there when at low HP. Once in the den right next to the camp, hunters should make their way into the cave on the east side of the den.
The small lizards can be annoying, so it would probably be a good idea to kill them while in the area. On the southeast end of the room, there is a corpse that contains the initial lump of meat gamers will need to find. There are a fair few corpses in the den. Hunters that do not find the lump of meat initially will find it if they check each corpse.
After picking up the lump of meat, hunters will have to make the long and arduous journey back to the camp. Even with max stamina, it can take an eternity to make it all the way back. Gamers can still roll and sprint while carrying the meat, but it will not be a very quick animation. Eating food and using Dash Juice will definitely help speed up the process.
While transporting the meat, if any creature touches the character model, the meat will be dropped. It is a good idea to clear a path before attempting to exit the den. Also, creating a marker on the camp before entering the den will light the way out. Considering how similar every area of the den looks, having a clear exit route will be helpful. Getting lost in the maze while moving at zero miles per hour is not a fun experience.
Players that are having trouble getting through the branches will need to break through them before going through the area while carrying the meat. Once out of the den, the gigantic lump of meat can be deposited in the blue supply box to the right.
The second lump of meat is in the same location as the first. Before entering the den again, hunters should boost their stamina back up with rations. Now that players know the route, the second sound of meat delivery should be a breeze. If a path is cleared on the way in, there is a high likelihood that the creatures will not have time to spawn back in when leaving the den once again. By following the tips above, completing this filler quest should be a lot less frustrating.
For their efforts, hunters will receive 3,600 Zenny after delivering the second lump of meat. Since the quest can take more than half an hour, people will need to decide if the time is worth the modest reward. Because the Meat of the Matter is optional, gamers may want to commit their time to a more worthwhile cause. However, those that want to accrue as much Zenny and complete as many quests as possible will want to power through the objectives.
