New Pokemon Snap: How to Take a Picture of Volcarona | Game Rant
The Illumina Pokemon are strange glowing Pokemon that players will encounter as they go through New Pokemon Snap and the Lental Region. Each island has its own Illumina Pokemon with Volcarona being the one for Voluca Island.
Each encounter with an Illumina Pokemon in New Pokemon Snap serves as a boss battle of sorts with there being different variables that can make taking photos difficult. In addition to this, the first encounter has players only able to submit photos where the Illumina effect is active in the Pokemon.
When players go in for the Voluca Island Illumina Pokemon, they will be surprised to see not one, but two Volcarona. Luckily, players don't need to worry about which Volcarona to photograph, but they instead provide players with a different sort of challenge.
As soon as players are able to control their cameras, they will see that both Volcarona activate Fire Spin around them. This not only makes it more difficult to get a clear shot of them, but it also prevents players from using Illumina Orbs on them. With Volcarona with an active Illumina effect being required to move forward, this can leave players completing the stage with nothing but unusable photographs.
In order to use Illumina Orbs properly in this stage, players will need to prepare to use plenty of Fluffruit. If any of the Volcarona are using Fire Spin, players will have to bean them with as many Fluffruits as they can until Volcarona stops the fire. This is the opportunity to throw an Illumina Orb and activate Volcarona's Illumina effect. It won't last forever, so players should take as many pictures as they can before the flames return and the process needs to be repeated.
After doing all of this, players should have photos that can be properly submitted to Professor Mirror. Players can additionally return to this course after its completion to see new elements added to it and take more photos of Volcarona. This also means other Pokemon will appear in the course alongside Volcarona such as Monferno.
Although the initial encounter requires Volcarona to be in its Illumina effect form for photos, other runs don't require it. This means that even photos with Volcarona's Fire Spin active can be submitted to Professor Mirror for the Photodex. Players however will likely find better photos if the Pokemon isn't obscured by its own flames during the encounter.
New Pokemon Snap is available now on Nintendo Switch.
