NieR Replicant: The Strange Fate of the Jewel Side Quest Walkthrough
After NieR Replicant players reach the mid-game time skip, there are several new sidequests they can accept that serve as continuations to quests completed in the first half of the game. In "The Strange Fate of the Jewel" side quest, NieR Replicant players are tasked with locating a jewel known as the mermaids tear for a woman in the Seaport.
To start the quest, players must speak to the woman dressed in orange who can be found by the water near the post office in the Seaport. The lady will ask the player to locate a jewel known as the "mermaids tear" that by her account is a family heirloom.
After accepting the quest, walk to the nearby fountain and speak to the lady with the purple sash. The lady will inform the player that while she knows nothing about the mermaids' tear, the lighthouse lady was extremely knowledgeable about precious stones and that they should investigate her house.
Unfortunately, because the lighthouse lady died before the time skip, players will be unable to question her about the stone. However, while players may not be able to question her directly, it is still possible to investigate her home.
On the first floor of the lighthouse, players will find a letter that references the stone being sent to the Seaport from her lover. With this new information, head to the post office and speak with the postman to receive further clues.
The postman will inform the player that there are several old letters from the lighthouse lady's lover stored in the back of the post office. Head towards the back of the post office by completing the short box puzzle.
After reaching the back of the post office players will find the jewel alongside a letter that was sent more than 50 years ago. In the letter, the lighthouse lady's lover claims that he is dying and that the jewel he sent is a final gift to remember him by.
At this point, players must speak with the postman one final time before they a given a choice to either bury the jewel in memory of the lighthouse lady, or, give the jewel to the client. If players choose to believe the story of the client and deliver the jewel to her, they will receive a reward of 10,000 gold. However, if players opt to bury the jewel they will receive no reward for completing the quest.
Regardless of what decision players choose to make, they can rest easy knowing that neither will have repercussions on further events in the game or what ending they receive.
NieR Replicant is now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
