Pokemon Masters Releases Ghetsis and Kyurem Event Trailer
The Pokemon franchise has a number of recurring character types, including the protagonist's rivals, Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and Champions. Pokemon Masters EX is a mobile game that adds in characters from all across the series to encourage players to use its gacha "scouting" system, but certain Legendaries have been offered for free. Soon, Pokemon Black 2 and White 2's box art Legendary Kyurem will join those ranks alongside its Sync Pair partner Ghetsis.
A trailer for "The Father or Foe" Legendary Event released on Twitter today after being teased alongside the announcement of Sword and Shield Gym Leader Raihan coming to Pokemon Masters. It presents a storyline in which Team Plasma's villainous leader Ghetsis comes to the island of Pasio looking to make amends, seemingly facilitated by his adoptive son N. One line of flavor text at the beginning of the trailer reads, "I wonder if that means I've become weak."
The last Legendary Event gave access to Kalos' Professor Sycamore and Xerneas, with Team Flare boss Lysandre and Yveltal being available to scout. Anyone who takes part in the upcoming event will get a free five-star Ghetsis to train and use, similar to Sycamore and Team Galactic boss Cyrus with Palkia before them. "The Father or Foe" will begin at 11:00 p.m. PT on May 3, lasting until 10:59 p.m. PT on May 19.
Ghetsis' monochrome color scheme in Pokemon Masters suggests this takes place following his failed attempt to take over Unova in Black 2 and White 2, as opposed to his more regal white, purple, and gold outfit from the original Black and White. He wears the latter outfit when encountered as a part of Team Rainbow Rocket in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, suggesting that's a different continuity. However, today's teaser suggests Team Rocket boss Giovanni will play a role in the story, so fans will have to wait and see whether the Unovan villain is truly looking to make amends before recruiting him.
Pokemon Masters EX is available now on Android and iOS devices.
