Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Accessibility Options Won't Affect Trophies
The increase in accessibility options in games has been a positive change in the games industry, with many developers prioritizing it heavily. Previously, Insomniac made it known that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will have a solution for gamers needing accessibility options, and now players utilizing those options won't have to miss out on a core PlayStation gaming feature.
A surge of support for accessibility options was evident when The Last Of Us Part 2 set a high standard for the rest of the industry, offering players with disabilities a much better experience. Insomniac appears to be following the standard set by Naughty Dog. While the list of accessibility options already revealed for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is impressive, Insomniac seems to have more options that aren't known yet.
Insomniac has confirmed that enabling accessibility options will not disable trophies, meaning Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart won't rely on specific settings for trophies to still be earned. This is especially great news for those who need accessibility options and would like to earn trophies. However, the real positive to take from this is that Insomniac and other developers are beginning to make staple changes that impact the games industry and allow a wider audience of players to partake.
Despite not revealing a complete list, Insomniac has revealed some of the Ratchet and Clank accessibility options. For example, gamers with physical disabilities will have the option of Simplified Traversal, which makes navigating throughout the game a much easier task, as it dedicates one button for Rift Tethers, Phantom Dash, and Hoverboots. Additionally, players will have the option of altering the colors of heroes, enemies, and allies.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will also have the ability to adjust the sensitivity of camera shake and give players the option to change button holds into toggles, making actions like firing weapons a much simpler process. Players will find other assist options for the intensity of aim assist, which, if increased, will help with the game automatically targeting whatever the player is attempting to aim towards. Lastly, while the dynamic haptic feedback has been an impressive feature of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller, it also causes discomfort for some gamers. In that case, Insomniac has given the option to adjust rumble effects and adjust adaptive triggers.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart launches June 11, exclusively for PS5.
