'Stranger Things' Fans Think They've Figured Out A Season 4 Twist
Despite the several pandemic-related setbacks that have delayed the release of its fourth season, Netflix's hit show Stranger Things is still building a lot of hype. According to the most recent discussions online, it seems that some people are already convinced they know what the season 4 twist will be, and their theories seem rather promising.
Earlier in May, Netflix released a series of Stranger Things teaser trailers for the fourth season and fans have since been on a mission to decipher the possible hidden meanings behind the cryptic videos. One clip, in particular, hints at the story revolving around a group of children with shaven heads who resemble a young Eleven.
The kids were shown playing with toys in a test facility similar to the one Eleven was once held in. In the scene, they can be heard greeting Matthew Modine's Dr. Brenner, the evil scientist behind the unethical experiments seen in Stranger Things. Everyone but Eleven greeted him—she stayed in her room instead, which could indicate the moment when she first decided to rebel against him. Based on that video, many fans believe that the children will be the next villains of the upcoming season. Given that some test subjects like Eleven and Kali had managed to escape the facility, the children could be set on a mission to recapture them so that Dr. Brenner can continue with his research.
Another clue that supports that theory comes from a separate teaser trailer that features the HNL Control Room, which has CCTV screens showing the bloodied rooms from which the children seem to have gotten out. The footage could imply that the children will soon infiltrate Hawkins and terrorize the town. As for the possible threats coming from the Upside-Down, previously leaked Stranger Things set photos show a fictional trailer park in Hawkins being taken over by alien-like tendrils, so we can assume that some sort of supernatural monster will be making an appearance throughout the season as well.
Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), and the Duffer Brothers themselves have all teased Stranger Things season 4 as "the most frightening" one yet, so it wouldn't be too farfetched to assume that the children will have a critical role in the next plot. There could also be some new revelations given by David Harbour's Chief Hopper, who was confirmed to be alive in a previous video released in February 2020.
Hopper was shown being held captive in a Russian prison camp after the events of the third season of Stranger Things. However, he could end up running into the supernatural kids at some point as he works to get himself back to Hawkins.
Stranger Things season 4 will likely be released on Netflix sometime in 2022.
