Subnautica: Below Zero - Parallel Processing Unit Location
In Subnautica: Below Zero, after meeting Marguerit Maida, players will be given the task of disabling the Communications Tower on Delta Island. For this mission, a Test Override Module is needed in order to switch the tower into test mode. Most of the required items for the module are raw materials that can be easily collected or crafted. However, the Parallel Processing Unit requires a trip down to the Mercury II wreckage.
As with other equipment recipes, the blueprints for this unit can be unlocked by collecting Parallel Processing Unit Fragments. Players need to collect three. The good news is that all three fragments are found within the wreckage of the Mercury II spacecraft. However, the parts of the ship have sunk down to depths where dangerous creatures like the Squidsharks reside.
Before embarking for the Mercury II, there is some valuable equipment that players should consider bringing along. The most essential tool for this mission is the Laser Cutter, as it will be used to access some of the fragments hidden behind panels as well as blocked pathways. Players should also consider taking the Rebreather and the High Capacity Oxygen Tank to help extend their expedition before running out of oxygen. The Seatruck can serve to supply quick oxygen while diving. A Flashlight will also aid in navigating the dark depths where the wreckage lies.
In Subnautica: Below Zero, the Mercury II can be found in pieces near the Purple Vents. When reached, players should travel down the left side of the Mercury II until they come across an opening on the side of the wreck. Here, players will find two fragments in close proximity to one another. Swim inside the wreck and through the first door. To get the first Parallel Processing Unit fragment, swim down the right hallway and enter the Engine Room on the right. There will be a panel on the wall housing the first fragment. Use the Laser Cutter to open the panel and scan the fragment.
The second fragment is in the Bridge. In the same room, swim up through the hole in the ceiling. There will be an Oxygen Plant. Use this to replenish oxygen levels if needed. Swim through the second hole leading to the Bridge. Inside, players will find the second fragment as well as another Oxygen Plant. Scan it and return to the Seatruck.
The last fragment is located in the Detached Thruster of the Mercury II. Reach the thruster of the ship, and swim down the hallway until the hallway splits to the left and right. Swim into the room to the right. Find the panel on the wall and cut through it with the Laser Cutter. After scanning the final fragment, players will unlock the Parallel Processing Unit blueprints. Players will need to collect 1x Gold, 1x Silver Ore, and 1x Table Coral Sample. The item can be crafted in the Fabricator.
Once crafted, players can use the Parallel Processing Unit to construct the Test Override Module and deactivate the Communications Tower. Inserting the Test Override Module and activating Test Mode for the tower also unlocks an achievement for the game.
Subnautica: Below Zero is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
