'Borderlands' Movie Reveals First Silhouetted Group Cast Photo
In the past few months, several announcements have been made regarding the growing cast of the Borderlands movie and fans have been waiting to see them all come together in the much-awaited live-action adaptation of the extremely popular game franchise. Earlier this week, fans were offered silhouetted shots of some of the main characters in the film and now the first group photo has been released.
Similar to the previous Borderlands images, the group cast picture does not reveal much since it once again only shows silhouettes of the actors dressed in their respective gear. But, it is still a first look at the core members of the Borderlands team coming together, which only goes to show that after facing several delays, the movie is finally on track, and shooting is moving ahead smoothly.
The new image, which has been shared multiple times on social media since its release, shows Florian Munteanu as Krieg, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Patricia Tannis, Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, and Jack Black as Claptrap. There are many other actors who have been cast in the Borderlands film, but it seems like the six photographed together will be at the crux of the film’s plot.
The group photo soon began an entire conversation about the characters’ appearances, which are heavily inspired by the games. One concern that many fans of the games seemed to have was casting Hart as Roland. The actor is known for his comic timing and witty humor, and fans were concerned that the role of Roland would be influenced by his personality, therefore taking away from the character’s nature in the games. Additionally, some of them were just unhappy that Lilith was actually taller than Roland.
However, fans need to keep in mind that the movie adaptation, with director Eli Roth at the helm, and will not be an accurate representation of any of the games from the Borderlands franchise. The characters in the movie are a mix of those featured in the various Borderlands entries and while the different elements in the film will be influenced by the games, the movie’s script is not based on any single installment.
The Borderlands movie will tell the story of Lilith, who returns to her home planet of Pandora to find Atlas’ missing daughter. Atlas was not a character in the games but was instead a corporation run by multiple individuals. In her mission, Lilith will form a team, similar to how she does in the game, but the members aren’t all the same. So far, there hasn’t been any mention of Lilith's secret powers as a Siren either. Despite all these differences, Borderlands fans cannot seem to wait for the film to become reality.
Borderlands is currently in production and does not have a release date.
