Magic Arena Announces New Chromatic Cube And Other Upcoming Events

July is nearly here and that means there are only a few weeks left before the next Standard legal Magic: The Gathering set arrives. When Adventures in the Forgotten Realms launches, there will be a ton of exciting new cards for players to start drafting and working into their Constructed decks. To help give players some excitement throughout spoiler season and until they can get their hands on the new cards, Magic Arena is rolling out some exciting in-game events in late June and early July.

First off, yet another Cube variation is about to launch in Magic Arena. For those who aren't familiar, Cubes are specific groups of cards from various Magic sets that are put together for drafting with a particular theme. Usually Cubes are very high powered and give players a chance to play with cards that they don't often get a chance to use (and cards that are drafted are not added to players' collections).

The new Chromatic Cube is themed around decks that use lots of colors (rather than just the usual two or three) and produce a lot of mana. No specific cards have been spoiled yet, but more details about the format are arriving this weekend when the event goes live. The Chromatic Cube isn't the only thing that's going to be keeping players busy over the next couple of weeks though. There are a ton of great Draft options coming to help close out the month and kick off July...

Starts June 25

The newest cube in MTG Arena opens for play tomorrow, June 25, and runs through July 8. This cube focuses on being in lots of colors and having lots of mana! Compete in both Best-of-One and traditional Best-of-Three matches.

Jumpstart

Dates: June 4–July 8, 2021

Entry: 2,000 gold or 400 gems

Rewards: One Jumpstart rare or mythic rare individual card reward for each of your first two wins

Event Record: Play as much as you like! Resign when you want.

Turbo Draft Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths opens June 26 and runs just four days until June 29. Draft cards against bots—so no time limit for selecting cards—to build a 40-card deck, and then get ready for turbocharged matches!

Each player gets an emblem with "Spells you cast cost {5} less," reducing the generic mana costs of spells (color mana costs are not reduced). This also applies to casting spells with mutate!

June 25: No Limits

July 2: Historic Artisan

July 9: No specific FNM at Home event

June 11–25: Theros Beyond Death

June 25–July 9: Strixhaven

July 9–23: Zendikar Rising

June 4–July 8: Jumpstart

June 19–25: 100-card Historic Brawl Fest

June 25–July 8: Chromatic Cube

June 25–July 8: Traditional Chromatic Cube

June 26–29: Turbo Draft Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths

The currently running and upcoming events do a great job of cycling through recent sets to give players a chance to revisit some of the most popular formats of the last year or so before diving into the new D&D-themed set later in July. Fans who aren't done with Strixhaven yet can still continue enjoying those Quick Drafts through July 9 when they'll get a chance to head back to Zendikar Rising again.

As always, players can also queue up for casual or ranked Constructed play at any time. Those matches are free and are the primary way lots of players attempt to climb the ranked Constructed ladder all the way up to the Mythic Tier. Reaching that level of play requires a ton of practice, play, and grinding; but is a great way to try and qualify for special tournament invites and prizes in the competitive card game.

Magic Arena is available now for PC and Mac.
