Marvel's Avengers Scientist Supreme Villain Sector Guide
Since its launch, one of the main complaints about Marvel's Avengers has been the lack of boss fights in the post campaign experience. Not only has the game only included just a handful of boss fights in the Villain Sectors, but the boss fights have also been fairly straightforward button mashers for powerful players and didn't provide much of a challenge. That is definitely changing now that the Cosmic Cube content has arrived and players can face off against the full power of the Scientist Supreme for the first time.
Monica has definitely leveled up since players encountered her during the campaign and the Marvel's Avengers villain easily has the most complex and deadly boss fight that the game has ever seen. Not only does the Scientist Supreme come equipped with an instant kill one shot attack that repeats multiple times throughout the fight, but she also has a fight that includes some mechanics players actually need to prepare for and approach strategically.
More complicated boss fights is definitely a good thing and will help add some variety and challenge to the repeatable content, but players are going to want to take a little time to understand how this fight works and how best to approach it before rushing into battle. Keep these tips in mind and a victory should be possible...
Success in this fight is incredibly reliant on high damage ranged DPS. Melee heroes will do fine smacking around Monica's clones, but when the main villain's shield goes down, they're essentially useless. The heroes that are best suited for this encounter are Hawkeye (either will work), Iron Man, and Black Widow.
For the majority of the fight, the "real" Monica is behind a shield that is impenetrable. Players can lower the shield by killing off one of the more powerful clones (there will be many weak minion clones and one powerful clone spawning at a time until a later phase when three powerful clones spawn at once). After the shield is lowered, players need to do a ton of ranged DPS as quickly as possible before Monica unleashes her instant kill attack.
Monica's instant kill attack arrives about eight seconds after the shield goes down, though it is possible to interrupt it if the group has enough burst damage in a hurry. If not, be sure to hide behind one of the room's four pillars before the attack fires off. Any player not behind a pillar will be immediately downed. The attack also destroys one pillar each time it fires off, so players who don't deal enough damage during each opening will run out of places to hide and be killed by the attack the fifth time it happens.
Killing the weak minion clones also gives players a damage boost that can stack up to ten times. It's essential to keep this bonus stacked throughout the fight, especially right before the shield is about to go down. As it starts to fade, players should find some clones and take them down to reset it.
Defeating the three powerful clones to lower the shield shouldn't be too tough with the damage modifier, but they do each have unique attacks that players will want to avoid. Keep an eye out for visual indicators, again, stick with ranged attacks as much as possible.
Unfortunately for solo players, this is a pretty difficult Villain Sector to complete without other real players along for the ride. The AI teammates are currently very bad at hiding behind the pillars and will all be one shot killed and need to be revived after every major attack from Monica. They also don't deal quite enough ranged damage during the brief openings to get her down and out before that fifth one shot arrives most of the time.
That should be everything players need to jump into the Villain Sector and start defeating the Scientist Supreme on a regular basis. Be sure to check back frequently for more Marvel's Avengers news, guides, and updates in the near future.
