Pokemon GO Changes Level 42 Quest Requirements | Game Rant
Many endgame Pokemon GO players were incredibly excited when Niantic announced an increased level cap earlier this year and the long grind from level 40 to 50 began. There are some very difficult challenges required to progress through each level, in addition to boatloads of XP, and one of those milestones just got a little tougher.
Since the addition of Sylveon to Pokemon GO, some players have been wondering whether or not it would impact the requirements for leveling from 41 to 42. At first it did and the "Evolve Eevee into each of its unique Evolutions" task continued to exclude Sylveon, but that won't be the case for much longer. Not to worry though, players just need to follow some simple steps to stay on track in their quest for max level.
Starting on June 9, the quest line has been updated to include Sylveon as one of the mandatory unique Evolutions of Eevee. Evolving Eevee into each of its unique forms while holding the quest is actually a lot of work, especially for players who have already burned through the easy name change tricks for the tougher to control evolutions. There are still ways to accomplish the goal, but this change will definitely increase the difficulty a bit for players who are trying to speed through these new endgame levels.
Pokemon GO players who want to successfully complete the task and make their way to level 42 at some point in the near future do have a couple of options. As mentioned above, the easiest option is the name change trick, but that will only work one time. To handle the evolution that way, players need to name their Eevee Kira before evolving.
Otherwise, controlling the evolution will require a little more work...
Set Eevee as Buddy
Earn 70 Hearts with Eevee as your Buddy
Use 25 Eevee Candy to evolve Eevee while it is still your buddy
No other quests have been altered for the level 41 to 50 grind at this point and there are no other changes on the horizon that seem like they should impact those requirements. This change wasn't a big surprise and a lot of the community saw it coming, so hopefully many players who haven't hit level 42 yet are still saving their nickname evolution use and can just use that once they have arrived at level 41 and started the quest.
In the coming weeks, we should learn more about what other events will be arriving during the rest of the Season of Discovery. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
