PS Plus Free Games for July 2021 Wish List | Game Rant
Despite Sony deciding to skip the return of E3 and Summer Game Fest, significant news about the future of PlayStation has been plentiful in recent weeks with a Horizon Forbidden West focused State of Play, official confirmation that Team Asobi was joining the likes of Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games as a first-party studio, and the announcement Sony had partnered with Deviation Games for a PS5 game, a brand new studio founded by Call of Duty: Black Ops veterans Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell.
Now that E3 is over for another year and it's unclear exactly when Sony will release another State of Play, news of next month's PlayStation Plus lineup isn't far away, so here's our complete PS Plus free games wish list for July 2021.
Ubisoft opened its E3 2021 showcase with an in-depth look at Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, a new cooperative shooter not unlike the upcoming Back 4 Blood, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and Redfall. Despite being a mainline entry in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series, Extraction is a spin-off of the multiplayer shooter Rainbow Six Siege and is based on the limited-time PVE mode called Outbreak where teams of three would face off against infected hordes. Built off the back of Siege's ever-growing success year after year since it launched in 2015, it's a great time to release the game on PS Plus and bring in newcomers ahead of Extraction.
Rainbow Six Siege is a multiplayer tactical shooter with a strong focus on tactics, coordination, and team gameplay. Players can choose from a variety of operators to play as, each with their own unique weapons, gadgets, and abilities, and gameplay is round based with asymmetrical levels and environmental destruction. In the six years since its launch, Ubisoft has continuously updated Rainbow Six Siege featuring 20 maps, 3 modes, 59 Operators, 21 seasons, and over 7o million registered players across all platforms to date. It's also got a free weekend going on right now, so jump in and play before it ends on June 21st at 9 pm local time.
Ahead of Microsoft's E3 2021 showcase, a leak made the rounds online from Resetera claimed A Plague Tale: Innocence would be getting a sequel called A Plague Tale: Requiem and that it would be announced during the Xbox/Bethesda conference alongside a next-gen remaster of the original game for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Given that both of those claims ended up coming true, it seems very likely, or at least possible the third part of the leak could also be true: A Plague Tale: Innocence is free on PS Plus in July.
Right now, there's no official confirmation but the idea that A Plague Tale: Innocence could be on PS Plus is exciting as it's a great game and a great fit on the wish list. Developed by Asobo Studio, A Plague Tale: Innocence is a survival-horror stealth game set in 14th century France about two siblings in the midst of one of the worst pandemics in history: the Black Death. Inspired by games such as The Last of Us and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, A Plague Tale: Innocence received a ton of praise for its story, atmosphere, and music. Given that the A Plague Tale: Innocence PS5 remaster releases on July 6th, it makes sense that Sony could be planning something very exciting.
Keeping in line with Sony's recent trend of releasing new games for free on PS Plus for PS5 owners including Bugsnax, Oddworld: Soulstorm, and Destruction AllStars, there's one upcoming indie game in development that once upon a time had teased a release window of July 2021 and would be great for the service - Little Devil Inside.
Developed by Neostream Interactive, Little Devil Inside is an action-adventure indie game about explorers that are searching for monsters and supernatural events in a world inspired by the 19th century. Featuring single-player and cooperative multiplayer, Little Devil Inside combines elements of survival games such as chopping wood for fires and harvesting cacti for water with open-world exploration and combat - offering a range of weapons to use from swords to guns and equipment like a grappling hook. But unlike typical survival games, players will go out on various missions and return back to their hometown to rest and prepare for the next mission.
Next month's PlayStation Plus lineup of free games is likely to be announced in the final week of June and will be made available to active subscribers starting from Tuesday, July 6. For subscribers that haven't picked up any of the free games for the month of June, there is still time left to redeem Operation Tango and Star Wars Squadrons. Just like with Bugsnax and Destruction AllStars, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown is available for two months and will continue through until the start of August.
PlayStation Plus members receive a selection of free games on the first Tuesday of every month.
