Sony May Hold Its Own Event Soon after E3, Says Leaker

So far, 2021's E3 has been filled with exciting announcements, and thrilling gameplay reveals, but the absence of Sony once again continues to be a bit of a letdown for fans. However, this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise with it being the third year that Sony skipped E3 altogether. Regardless, Sony usually makes up for its absence by holding its separate event, showcasing its own upcoming announcements.

The good news is that according to Navtra, a reliable leaker within the industry, Sony will have its event in the coming weeks. Previously, Navtra accurately leaked Final Fantasy Origin and correctly revealed both Spider-Man Miles Morales and Sackboy would be cross-gen so while not official, it does give PlayStation fans a bit of hope.

Furthermore, the leak also states that Sony would reveal more information on Death Stranding: Director's Cut, which makes sense considering that it was only recently shown via a short trailer. There is also a chance that Forspoken and Final Fantasy XVI would make an appearance at the Sony event, considering they were absent at both Summer Game Fest as well as Square Enix's own E3 press conference. Interestingly, fans have been waiting a long time for the multiplayer mode in The Last of Us Part 2, which has started generating some excitement due to hints at a standalone multiplayer game being developed by Naughty Dog.

It's currently unknown what other games may be present in Sony's show, but it's more than likely that Horizon Forbidden West could get anbother trailer and fans likely expect to see something on the upcoming God of War. It's also possible that Sony would reveal the new IP developed by Bend Studios after some backlash that a Days Gone sequel would not happen. Games like Ghostwire: Tokyo, Pragmata, and Little Devil Inside could also show up, considering all three of them haven't had much news lately.

The last State of Play held was on May 27, and the one before that was on April 29 so judging by the space of time between those two, it's likely that this Sony event isn't coming till late June, maybe early July. Regardless, the event should focus on Ghostwire: Tokyo and Kena: Bridge of Spirits, both of which are said to release this year. Additionally, it would be wise for the event to occur later this month if Sony is looking to catch the generated hype after 2021's E3, especially with most fans agreeing that Microsoft had a solid show of surprising announcements and exciting gameplay reveals. Nevertheless, the news hasn't been confirmed by Sony quite yet, and so it should be taken lightly for now.
