Toss A Coin To This Incredible Jaskier Cosplay From The Witcher
It's one thing for a cosplayer to have mad skills when creating their outfit like this impressive take on Lady Thor. But things get taken to a whole new level when the talented individual can not only create a flawless costume but also happens to already look just like the character they embody. That's the case with this nearly flawless rendition of Jaskier from Netflix's The Witcher series.
Instagram cosplayer and The Witcher fan vitaliy_joiner is apparently perfectly suited for this exact character, and his latest effort has proven that not only is he incredibly adept at recreating outfits from his favorite properties, but he's got the face for it too. Playing the lute in a forest, as one does, this cosplay artist managed to stage a picture-perfect shot of himself as Jaskier from the Netflix series, complete with the character's simple yet stylish wardrobe. But he hasn't just mastered this version of the character.
Looking back in vitality_joiner's Instagram history, he's also managed to pull off an equally impressive portrayal of Jaskier's video game iteration, known in this version as Dandelion. This proves that, even if the cosplay model seems to look exactly like their character, there's still a lot more work involved than simply having the right face. His cosplays of Dandelion and the elf resistance leader Iorveth, also from The Witcher games, prove that theory rather soundly.
Jaskier, played by British actor Joey Batey in Netflix's The Witcher, charmed audiences immediately with his relentless energy and hilarious banter with the much more stoic Geralt (played by Henry Cavill). His extremely catchy ballad written for Geralt (the "toss a coin to your Witcher" one that everybody still refuses to stop singing) also likely played a bit into the character's popularity. His video game counterpart, however, doesn't seem to be quite as popular, particularly since he seems to be depicted as more of a bumbling (but well-meaning) bard than the rather adept charmer seen in the live-action series.
The combination of clothing, props, makeup, and the cosplayer's own natural looks all come together to pay perfect tribute to the motormouth musician. All that's missing is a backing voice and lute music track to complete the experience. Maybe a glare from a white-haired mutant would help as well.
A good cosplay always deserves to be praised, and this is great cosplay. Even the picture's simple composure is all that's needed to drive home how well vitality_joiner knows the source material as well as the art of cosplay. Here's hoping he keeps it going for many years to come. He'd probably pull off some great Final Fantasy characters if he felt so inclined.
The Witcher season 1 is now available on Netflix.
