Assassin's Creed Valhalla - How to Get One-Handed Sword (Skrofnung)
When Assassin's Creed Valhalla first released, it didn't take long for fans to realize that something was missing. Surprisingly, Eivor was completely unable to equip a standard, one-handed sword as a weapon despite their prevalence all throughout England. Even outside of the game, it's common knowledge that Vikings around this time would have used typical swords, moreso in fact than the two-handed swords showcased in the game, so this decision was seen as odd to say the least. With the Sigrblot Festival, Ubisoft finally righted this wrong, adding a one-handed sword to the game. This weapon is known as Skrofnung, and it is a powerful option.
At the moment, Skrofnung is the only one-handed sword available in the game. More likely than not, this will change in the near future, but for now fans shouldn't pass up the opportunity to get their hands on it. The item is available as part of Assassin's Creed Valhalla's ongoing Sigrblot festival, and players have until August 19th to collect Sigrblot tokens used to purchase the sword.
In order to collect Sigrblot tokens, players simply need to partake in the event's festivities. As with prior festivals in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the player should start by doing every repeatable event at least once. After this, players will likely notice that the new incarnation of the tournament in this festival rewards massive amounts of coins in a relatively short period of time. Here, players will fight through three rounds of opponents, and if they manage to make it through, they'll be rewarded with a handsome 75 Sigrblot tokens. The Skrofnung one-handed sword costs 300 Sigrblot Tokens, so at most players will need to complete this tournament event four times to get it.
What's more, players can actually try the Skrofnung out for themselves before buying it, as it is one of the weapons available to choose when fighting in the tournament. The one-handed sword moveset is surprisingly fun to play with, and Skrofnung itself is a great weapon too. When players purchase it, it will be at the Superior level, but it can be fully upgraded to reach Mythical status. It's attacks are swift and it deals very high stun damage, and its passive ability increases ability damage after the player dodges. All things considered, it's a solid option for any player.
Ubisoft has already confirmed that more one-handed swords will be added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla with the Siege of Paris DLC. This is set to release on August 12th, 2021, so fans don't have long to wait. Most event weapons cannot be obtained outside of their specific event, though, so players should make extra effort to grab Skrofnung before it goes away.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
