Doki Doki Literature Club Plus: Yuri Poem Words Guide | Game Rant
Doki Doki Literature Club Plus is part dating sim, part psychological horror game. The two genres couldn't be more different, but it's this stark contrast that made the title such a hit when the original Doki Doki Literature Club was released in 2017 for PC. Some may not have liked the opening hours of the horror title, but it's this time that lets players explore each of the characters' unique personalities before the heavy subject material of the game becomes apparent.
The enhanced Plus version includes side stories that allow players to take a glimpse inside the Literature Club before their character makes an appearance. It also adds bonus songs, higher quality images, and a few extra clues to keep players guessing at what the Doki Doki Literature Club Plus unsolved game mysteries actually mean.
The unique game still has a focus on romance and relationship building, with players having to make a choice on whether to impress Literature Club members Sayori, Natsuki, or Yuri. To choose who to woo, players must complete poetry mini-games by selecting words they think their romance choice would prefer. To ensure impressing Yuri, players should choose words that score the highest points with her, as Doki Doki Literature Club Plus uses a 3-point system for every available word.
After joining the Literature Club and experiencing the first day with all of the characters, players will follow the story back to their home and enter the poetry mini-game for the first time. This will then come up at the end of each day in Act 1, and players should choose the words that they associate with Yuri to ensure this game romance is done right.
Yuri is the shyest member of the Literature Club, with a love of fantasy books and dark imagery. As long as players choose the majority of words that fit this description, they will start her storyline the next day in the clubroom. To ensure a romance with Yuri, players should choose as many of these poem words as possible when the mini-game appears:
- 9:15
- Afterimage, Agonizing, Ambient, Analysis, Anxiety, Atone, Aura
- Breathe
- Cage, Captive, Climax, Contamination, Covet, Crimson

Players will know they have made the best word choice when Yuri's chibi character jumps into the air. If 20 words found in the above list are used in any of the poetry mini-games during Act 1 the Perfect! Yuri Trophy or Achievement will unlock. This is an easy 80 Gamerscore for Xbox users, or Gold Trophy for those playing on PlayStation consoles.
For Trophy/Achievement hunters, it's advisable to create a save before writing a poem. This means it's easier to reload and write a perfect poem for each romanceable character and get a quick 240G or 3 Gold Trophies. The whole game in general is great for getting lots of achievements and trophies fast, if players have the heart for a few extra playthroughs.
Doki Doki Literature Club Plus is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
