Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut File Size Revealed | Game Rant
Details for the new Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut have been few and far between, and certain information about the game, notably its price, have caused some concerns for fans. With its release date of August 20 on the horizon, many have been wanting to know the size of Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, and thanks to the PlayStation Store, that information is now available.
Ghost of Tsushima was released in 2020, and was met with an overwhelmingly positive reception from critics and fans alike. Its vast play-space is one of near-unparalleled beauty, with a storyline full of unique characters, and side quests that will distract players for hours if the ability to take breath-taking pictures in the game's expansive photo mode doesn't first. Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut aims to improve upon an already stellar game with the addition of the new Iki Island expansion, new PS5 specific features such as haptic feedback, and Japanese lip-sync for those who want a more authentic experience.
While Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut's price point has been of some concern to fans, with those who already own the game having to shell out extra in order to receive the bonus content and PS5 upgrades, the file size has been somewhat of a mystery. Recently, however, Twisted Voxel have done some delving into the PlayStation Store and discovered that the new Sucker Punch title will be a 60gb download.
This is around 10gb more than the original base game, which sat at 50gb at launch. Considering that Ghost of Tsushima ended up at around 35gb when installed, it is possible that the 60gb size may come down. The 10gb extra likely comes in large part due to Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut's Iki Island expansion, which, given the original game's propensity for creating unique aesthetic experiences for the player in different regions of the map, will likely come with new textures and assets that would take up some space. No doubt the addition of improved 3D audio and 4k Resolution required some tweaking to the files as well.
Overall, despite Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut's high price, it still seems like an exciting addition to the game for fans of the original. While the Iki Island expansion will add more to Jin's story and surely be a major draw for those that wanted more out of the base game's plot, the improved FPS, 4k resolution, and addition of haptic features could be enough for a large number of fans to pick the game up —despite its steep price point.
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is set to launch on August 20 on PS4 and PS5.
