Greedfall: How To Romance Aphra | Game Rant
Gamers enjoying Greedfall, by French indie developer Spiders, will have quite a few chances to become intimate with their favorite battlefield ally. Out of the 4 romanceable companions, Aphra of the Bridge Alliance faction is the most inclined to scientific pursuits and can impart some alchemic knowledge that will be particularly useful for players needing to craft potions and bullets, such as Technical builds.
While gamers don't necessarily need to romance Aphra after gaining enough of her friendship to acquire her Science Talent bonus, her additional kind of companionship can allow one's playthrough to feel more complete as Greedfall heavily stresses the importance of relationships between characters, whether it is on the battlefield or in a throne room. However, everyone should keep in mind that Aphra can only be romanced by male characters, so those playing as female De Sardet cannot form an intimate relationship with her.
To romance Aphra, gamers in the role of the noble De Sardet will need to complete each of Aphra's 3 personal quests as well as select the right lines of dialogue when speaking with her at camp.
After acquiring Aphra as a companion following the "Scholars of the Expedition" main quest, players can speak to her sometime after it is completed to pick up the first of her personal quests called "Islander Knowledge". This new quest will involve Aphra asking De Sardet to help her gather ingredients and perform some research, though, be wary as this quest can lead to a decrease of reputation with the Natives faction.
- Follow Aphra's directions to a site of interesting carvings (Cergganaw) near the village of Dorgred
- One will come across wild beasts attacking some villagers here
- Slay the beasts to rescue the villagers
- Talk to the villagers, who will state that they have been envenomated by the beasts
- Aphra will mention a potion that can purge the venom
- Collect the ingredients and create that potion
- Give the potion to the injured villagers (optional, but gains 1 reputation with the Natives faction)
- Speak to Dunncas in the village of Vigyígidaw and then the rescued natives
- After this, follow the elder villagers and sneak into the cave after them
- Here, the player will get caught (unavoidable) and will lose 1 reputation with the Native faction
After losing that previously gained point of reputation with the Native faction, the quest will end and the player will be guaranteed to receive 3 relationship reputation points with Aphra as well as 1000 XP. When speaking with her after this quest, the correct dialogue option to choose for positively increasing one's relationship with Aphra is the one that mentions the 2 young villagers.
This next quest can only be triggered by a conversation with Aphra, like all of her personal quests, though only after one has played through "The Price of Blood" side quest and has observed the mines, which will lead to Aphra wanting to bring something up with De Sardet when she gets a chance.
- After speaking with Aphra, head to Vigyígidaw to speak with some villagers
- Speak with villagers to learn of a cave full of secrets
- Travel to this cave, which is located somewhat close to the village of Dorgred
- When approaching the cave, one will spot people who the player can talk to
- Question the people to learn more about the cave
- Use Charisma Talent-based dialogue options or bribes to convince them to leave
- Receive the Seed of the Door of Knowledge quest item from the people before they depart
- Loot the other Seed of the Door of Knowledge from a corpse next to a nearby tent
- Place the seeds on the stone altar to open the gate leading into the cave
- Go inside and inspect the paintings found on the walls within
- Hide to avoid being detected by passing villagers
- Spy on the villagers and then exit the cave
Completing this quest will yield another 3 points of relationship reputation with Aphra as well as a generous 1300 XP. While discussing things afterward, to get closer to the Bridge Alliance member, be sure to pick the dialogue option that mentions that the player has learned a lot, as Aphra will like that De Sardet is learning alongside her.
Simply completing "The Cave of Knowledge" quest will unlock "The Linking Ritual" quest, however, players will have to wait at least a full day before one can speak with Aphra and start the latter quest; the final personal one before the player can completely romance the Bridge Alliance member.
- Head over to Cergganaw to witness the eponymous ritual
- Talk to Dunncas before it begins
- Talk to the 3 villagers who are about to perform the ritual
- Watch the cutscene that plays
- After the cutscene ends, defend the villagers from an invading force of Bridge Alliance fighters
After the battle concludes, the player's relationship with Aphra will increase by the usual 3 points and one will also receive 1600 XP. Back at camp, when speaking with Aphra about the ritual, De Sardet should mention that they want to be part of her new life to grow closer to the scientific woman. Following this, the player should now have a dialogue option to spend some time alone with Aphra and take their relationship to the highest level.
