Marvel Cosplayer Creates Avengers: Endgame-Accurate Rescue Armor
Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame finally saw Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts suit up as Rescue after years of fan anticipation. Now, a talented cosplayer has recreated Potts' Rescue armor and the outfit may rival the real suit.
Ever since her debut in the first Iron Man film, Pepper Potts has been an integral part of Tony Stark's journey. However, though she was able to participate in the action every now and then, Potts was more often on the sidelines during major events such as the Battle of New York and Thanos' arrival on Earth in Avengers: Infinity War.
The idea of Pepper Potts staying out of the battles between Earth's Mightiest Heroes and alien invaders may not seem unusual to many moviegoers, especially since the character expressed little to no interest in joining Tony Stark's superhero exploits. However, fans who are aware of Potts' time as the armored hero Rescue in the comics were likely wondering if and when Paltrow's version of the character would follow suit. Fortunately for those fans, Paltrow's Potts donned the Rescue armor Tony Stark made for her when she participated in the battle between nearly every MCU hero and Thanos in the climax of Avengers: Endgame. Inspired by Rescue's cinematic debut, an individual who is part of the Rogues Gallery Cosplay duo crafted their own version of the armor, complete with a glowing arc reactor. The attention to detail doesn't stop there, however, as a view of the most recent Rescue video on their Instagram page shows that the hand also lights up as if the cosplayer is preparing to blast enemies away.
This impressive cosplay may be the closest fans come to seeing Rescue in real life again, particularly because Paltrow has suggested her time with the MCU is over. Of course, Paltrow also stated that she would be willing to make another appearance as Pepper Potts provided her scenes could be shot in a day or two, so fans might not want to rule out a Rescue return down the line. That said, Marvel Studios has multiple plans to continue the Iron Man legacy now that Robert Downey Jr. has retired from the role. Among these plans is an Ironheart series for Disney Plus starring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams and an Armor Wars series focused on Don Cheadle's War Machine.
In fact, Marvel Studios' upcoming film and television projects seem to be focused on introducing a new generation of heroes to the MCU. In addition to the Ironheart series, Disney Plus will soon introduce Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan in Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel, respectively.
Still, fans probably wouldn't complain if they saw Rescue show up for at least one more action-packed scene in the MCU. However, for now, the incredible work from Rogues Gallery Cosplay will more than suffice.
Avengers: Endgame is now available on Disney Plus.
