Masters Of The Universe: 10 Best Heroic Warriors In The Franchise, Ranked
When Prince Adams yells "By the Power of Grayskull" and transforms into He-Man, it's bad news for any villain nearby. With Skeletor's forces on the rise, He-Man might have trouble repelling the overlord's forces from his planet. And with She-Ra busy defending Etheria from the Horde, He-Man will have a hard time fighting Skeletor alone. Thanks to an upcoming Netflix series, He-Man rallies the Masters of the Universe once more to banish Skeletor from the planet Eternia.
Despite the persistence of foes, He-Man amassed comrades along the way to help with his quest. Armed with a variety of technologies and sorcerous abilities, these heroic Masters of the Universe have something to offer in the fight against Skeletor. Some of He-Man's companions have remarkable abilities that fans and newcomers shouldn't miss.
10 He-Ro
Albeit not a widely-known character, this Master of the Universe became a point of contention due to his multiple origins. He-Ro became the centerpiece of the planned spinoff called The Powers of Grayskull. This supposed spinoff, occurring in Preternia, follows Gray and his adventures as He-Ro - the Most Powerful Wizard in the Universe. Given these details, He-Ro is poised as a distant ancestor of both He-Man and She-Ra.
Unfortunately for He-Ro, his concept will remain a prototype as the series was scrapped in 1987. Despite the lack of definite powers, some descriptions could serve as enough to highlight He-Ro's capabilities. Armed with the Sword of Life, He-Ro has the magical and physical prowess to help King Grayskull defend the free people. Had his prototype concept come to fruition, He-Ro would likely depend on magic over the physical abilities of He-Man and She-Ra.
9 Man-E-Faces
Actors are known to play many faces, and Man-E-Faces literally has different faces to suit his needs. Originally a character with a split personality, Man-E-Faces is an aspiring actor that regularly aids He-Man in his adventures. Aside from his prowess, Man-E-Faces is a terrific actor, able to use his abilities to disguise and spy on their foes.
Newer incarnations of Man-E-Faces also attached special abilities to his faces. These handy traits allow Man-E-Faces to use a monstrous face for that extra boost in strength and courage. Contrary to this beastly facade, his robotic mask can boost his intellect and allows him to scan things for data. As a result, Man-E-Faces can study foes with his robot face, and switch to his monster face to strike.
8 The Sorceress Of Castle Grayskull
When Teela-Na sought refuge in Castle Grayskull, Kuduk Ungol took her in and trained her to become her successor as the Sorceress - the Guardian of Castle Grayskull. As the Sorceress, Teela-Na possesses a great deal of knowledge of history and magic, effectively become one of the wisest Eternians. More of a pacifist compared to other Masters of the Universe, the Sorceress opts to give counsel rather than be on the front lines.
Inside Castle Grayskull, the Sorceress possesses great mystical powers. She can see both the past and the future and can become a falcon to travel great distances. With magic, the Sorceress can conjure various mystical effects, telepathy, and even alter memories.
7 Extendar
Extendar remains one of the most iconic among the Masters of the Universe, particularly for his ability to extend all of his limbs to reach absurdly extremely heights. At his fullest, Extendar can tower over opponents and even attain full invincibility - making him one of the strongest of He-Man's allies.
In his origin story, Extendar was best friends with Dragstor and had been transformed into cyborgs by Hordak. While Extendar got to escape, he also vowed to fight with the Masters of the Universe until he could help Dragstor get freed from his curse. Having one of the best-developed story arcs among the Heroic Warriors, Extendar valued his friendship with Dragstor so much that he couldn't face him in combat.
6 Man-At-Arms
Man-At-Arms proves that the power of human ingenuity can beat whatever magic Skeletor pulls off in his misdeeds. Known originally as the Heroic Master of Weapons, Man-At-Arms is a genius inventor hailing from a family of warriors and creators alike. He primarily serves as Prince Adam's mentor, and one of He-Man's most loyal companions.
While he doesn't possess any powers, Man-At-Arms designs all the equipment the Masters of the Universe use. His battle prowess and strategic finesse made him the personal trainer of the Masters as well. Whatever magical powers Man-At-Arms lacks, he easily compensates with his heroic vigor and tactical talents.
5 Fisto
Who better to include among the best of the Masters of the Universe than the man whose strength is second only to He-Man? Fisto is known particularly for his right hand, which takes the form of a huge metal fist. Albeit unknown if cybernetic or not, Fisto's right arm can smash through most hard surfaces with ease.
Aside from the infamous meme involving Fisto and He-Man, Fisto does demonstrate loyalty and sacrifice amongst the Masters of the Universe. At some point, Fisto came to the aid of He-Man and his companions at the cost of his right arm. It's at this point in some media that had Fisto come back with his signature metal fist.
4 Teela
Among the Masters of the Universe, Teela is recognizable for being a heroic fighter that doesn't hesitate to get herself in danger to save others. In early shows, Teela carries with her the spirit of great warriors. Thanks to her training with Man-At-Arms, Teela has enough skills to fight Skeletor and his forces should He-Man call for aid.
Aside from her heroic nature, Teela is actually the secret daughter of the Sorceress. Unbeknownst to Teela, she is next to succeed Teela-Na as the guardian of Castle Grayskull, hinting of her great potential. Some media even portray her as the actual Sorceress, having successfully inherited the role from Teela-Na.
3 He-Man
When Eternia needs a hero to step up, Prince Adam uses the Sword of Power to transform into the mighty He-Man. Power-wise, He-Man matches Pre-Crisis Superman in terms of strength. He can throw mountains, change the position of the planet's moon by hand, and move his arms fast enough to fend off a tornado.
Given strict limitations to violence in media in his first appearances, He-Man's battles never involved violent combat. These limitations allowed He-Man to showcase his genius-level intellect - often outsmarting enemies to defeat them. Despite his powerset, He-Man does have weaknesses. He-Man will revert back to Prince Adam after taking too much damage or when exhausted.
2 She-Ra
With He-Man's help, Force Captain Adora breaks free of Horde control and realizes her true identity as Adora - twin of Prince Adam. Through the Sword of Protection, Adora transforms into She-Ra, the Princess of Power. Like He-Man, She-Ra possesses superb physical abilities. Thanks to her powerset, She-Ra can lift mountains and move fast enough to deflect energy blasts. Again like He-Man, anti-violence in media did prompt She-Ra to use more of her wits to fight enemies rather than engage in combat.
Unlike He-Man, She-Ra becomes the superior twin with her other abilities. With the Sword of Protection, She-Ra can unleash energy blasts and transform them into any object she needs in battle. In addition to her combat prowess, She-Ra possesses empathy, telepathy with animals, and even healing abilities.
1 Zodak
Despite his differing origins, Zodak remains a Cosmic Enforcer and a warrior from the Ancient Times. He's known best as a neutral entity within the franchise, serving more as a universal watcher. As the last member of the Council of the Wise, Zodak possesses universal-level knowledge, making him the smartest Master of the Universe.
In more recent incarnations, Zodak aided the Elders to defeat the Snake Men in centuries past. This event demonstrates his fighting prowess, perhaps making him the most powerful Eternian in the modern age.
