Minecraft: How to Make Shears | Game Rant
Tools are an incredibly important part of playing Minecraft. Players need items like Minecraft's ultimate pickaxe, swords, and fishing rods in order to mine ore, catch food, and craft everything in the game. One of these tools that can be hard to remember how to make are shears.
In Minecraft, players will need to make shears in order to accomplish several tasks. They are used to shear sheep of their wool, but they also have a few other uses in the game.
- Players can use shears on beehives to get honey or honeycombs without breaking the hive.
- Shearing a pumpkin will turn it into a Minecraft carved pumpkin or jack-o-lantern in the Java Edition.
- Mooshrooms can be turned into regular cows when sheared. They also drop mushrooms when doing so.
- Pumpkins can be removed from snow golems with shears.
- Pumpkins can be sheared into pumpkin seeds in the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft.
- In Minecraft Earth, which recently shut down, shears were used on Mooblooms and Wooly Cows.
- Shears can cut a tripwire hook without activating the trap.
Shears are also used to break blocks in Minecraft, including harvesting blocks of:
- Cobweb
- Dead bushes
- Ferns
- Glow lichen
- Leaves
- Nether sprouts
- Seagrass
- Tall grass
- Vines, weeping vines, and twisting vines
- Wool
In order to make shears in Minecraft, players just need some iron ingots. Iron is located all over the place under the ground, so players will most likely have everything they need to make it lying around. Smelt the iron in a furnace or Minecraft blast furnace until there are two iron ingots. Combine the two to make shears. Players can also find shears being sold by the merchant for 2 emeralds on occasion, and they can be found as loot in shepherd's chests.
Players can also enchant their shears to make them even more durable or useful with these enchantments.
- Curse of Vanishing - up to level I
- Efficiency - up to level V
- Mending - up to level I
- Silk Touch - up to level I (in Bedrock Edition only)
- Unbreaking - up to level III
Shears are used like any other tool in Minecraft. Players just need to walk up to the sheep, the block, the tripwire, or whatever else they wish to interact with and hit the use button. The use button will vary depending on which console or platform the player is using.
Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
