Pokemon GO: How to Get Cyndaquil | Game Rant
Pokemon GO is currently celebrating its fifth anniversary, and until July 15, trainers have the chance to earn an Elite Collector medal and other rewards for completing the Fifth-Anniversary Collection. This challenge can be completed by catching 19 different starter Pokemon, which includes the second generation fire-type, Cyndaquil.
To aid trainers in their quest to catch ‘em all for the Fifth-Anniversary Collection, Niantic has increased the spawn rate of the 19 Pokemon. There are also other ways to boost the spawn rate and find Cyndaquil, so trainers can have more time to catch the other 18 Pokemon.
Pokemon GO trainers can find Cyndaquil:
- In Residential Areas/Cities, or on beaches
- During warm/sunny weather
- Using Lure Modules at Pokestops
- Obtaining the ‘Power up Pokemon 5 times’ Field Research Task
- Obtaining the ‘Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokemon’ Field Research Task’
As a fire-type Pokemon, trainers can increase the odds of getting Cyndaquil if they live in warm climates, are close to a beach, or live in a city/large residential area. Whether or not players have access to these areas, everybody can increase their chances of getting Cyndaquil by using a Lure Module at a Pokestop. Until July 15, Lure Modules have been extended to last an hour, and starter Pokemon will appear more often. Lure Modules can be purchased from the shop for 100 PokeCoins, or 680 Pokecoins for a bundle of 8.
Another way to get Cyndaquil is by completing Research Tasks. Both July Field Research tasks ‘Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokemon’, and ‘Power up Pokemon 5 times’ will reward one-of-three Johto starter Pokemon: Chikorita, Totodile, or Cyndaquil. These Research Tasks can be obtained by spinning Pokestops, and trainers can stack the tasks to save themselves Berries and Stardust.
However, these tasks cannot be farmed to find Cyndaquil, as once the Research has been completed, it cannot be obtained from spinning the same Pokestop again. Trainers will have to find the tasks by spinning other Pokestops if they didn’t find Cyndaquil, the well-loved Johto starter. To pick up new research tasks, a free slot is needed. If trainers don’t have a free slot, they can delete another task by pressing the bin icon on the top right-hand corner of the research they want to trash.
The Fifth-Anniversary Collection has to be completed by 8 pm local time on July 15 if trainers want to receive the Elite Collectors medal. 80 PokeBalls, 3 Rare Candies, and a guaranteed encounter with a Flying Balloon Pikachu are also rewarded.
Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS devices.
