PSO2 New Genesis: How to Add Friends | Game Rant
It's important that Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis players don't underestimate the power of teamwork. The action-oriented free-to-play RPG specializes in allowing players to chain attacks for additional damage, making light work of the intimidating hordes of Falspawn that plague the various planets. Because of this, few Phantasy Star Online 2 players enter battle without some kind of backup.
That said, it's not very straightforward as to how players can team up with friends in PSO2. Granted, it's easy to befriend powerful randoms one may come across while adventuring through space. Some may seek to add a more reliable ally from Discord or Reddit, though sending a friend request requires some foresight. For starters, if two New Genesis players aren't in the same block, they won't be able to friend each other. This guide goes into the details of how to add friends in PSO2.
As stated before, players not on the same block will need to be on the same block to add each other. The reason for this is purely due to the PSO2 interface, as adding friends is primarily proximity-based. Thankfully, this is easily remedied as players can change blocks in PSO2. In short, all players need to do is locate the nearest Ryuker device, which is introduced early on in the main questline. From here, players can move to the block that their future teammate(s) resides in.
From this point, the most reliable way to add friends in PSO2 begins with the Community tab, then selecting Nearby Characters. Here, players are shown a list of other people nearby from which they can choose whom to send a request. Additionally, players on PC can open the main menu by hitting ESC and left-clicking on the person they want to befriend. As a last resort, PSO2 players could choose to search for friends using the Visiphone, though the aforementioned methods are the most successful.
Of course, a solid group of teammates isn't enough to combat the various monsters throughout the world of PSO2. Now that the group has a foundation, players should definitely turn their focus to raising their battle power. With a large enough team, the experience, weapon, and armor drops should be plentiful such that there's more than enough to go around. Not to mention, those time-limited Urgent Quests are nothing to joke around with.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis is available on the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
