Skyrim Player Does a Wholesome Pickpocket to Complete an NPC's Request
Typically speaking, when players think of the pickpocket skill in Skyrim, it's for stealing things from people or stealthily removing all of their clothes without them noticing. While the technique can certainly be used for good, like if the player steals something valuable from an enemy, it's hard to think of a way someone could pickpocket their target kindly. Somehow, that's exactly what Limp_Mixture managed to do with the stunt they pulled. While walking around town, an Morthal Guard made an off-handed comment, and rather than leave it alone and continue on with what they were doing, Limp_Mixture decided to take matters into their own capable hands.
As most players know, the pickpocket skill is primarily for stealing things from an enemy, but players can also do the reverse by putting items in an enemy's inventory. Even this practice is typically used for morally questionable things like poisoning the target though. Limp_Mixture seems to have found the intended use for such a feature in Skyrim, though.
One of the lines that guards in Skyrim will repeat every now and then as players pass by is that they need their blade sharpened. This isn't meant to be anything important, just idle chatter from a bored guard, but this player took it literally. Using their superior pickpocketing skills, the Dragonborn stole the guard's sword without him noticing, took it over to a forge, and actually sharpened it. Next, they simply reverse pickpocketed the guard and put the improved sword back into their inventory.
It seems as though this player's smithing skill was very high as well, since the basic imperial sword was upgraded to legendary quality, improving its damage to a massive 147. Ironically, this guard might be able to actually do some serious damage to the player from here on out if they ever run into trouble with the law in Morthal. Given this player's upstanding behavior thus far, it seems unlikely that this will happen, and more importantly, this guard is better equipped to protect Morthal now.
Other players in the comments are absolutely loving this hilarious reverse pickpocket. Some players discuss how the Dragonborn must have made that guard's day, while others suggest that he should have no problem cutting down mudcrabs anymore. Skyrim isn't quite advanced enough for the guard's AI to actually recognize what was done here, but it's certainly fun to think about how this would look in universe.
Skyrim is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox Series X.
