Zelda: Breath of the Wild Fan Creates Amazing 3D Embroidery Art Based on Game
Being one of the first games available for the Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has amassed a huge fanbase since its launch in 2017. Despite being several years old, the game’s hardcore fans have continued to find in-game glitches, even ones that involve the powerful end-game Master Sword, and create original content for the title. Now, another BotW fan is producing unique 3D embroidered art that captures some of the poignant spots and settings within the iconic video game.
With the E3 2021 news of Breath of the Wild 2 release happening in 2022, the game’s community has likely been teeming with excitement. However, Nintendo has not shared any official launch date, leaving fans with no idea on when they can expect to play the game's sequel next year. Until then, gamers will have to settle with the upcoming HD remaster of Skyward Sword on the Nintendo Switch, which is launching this July 2021.
On Reddit, user sydstitch has shared some of her embroidery creations featuring Nintendo’s Breath of the Wild. Her work showcased a small stitched doll of Link overlooking her version of the game’s Lover’s Pond. Most players will likely recall that this location can be found in the Tuft Mountains, where Link has to complete one of the many side quests in the game. However, instead of reflecting the lovers Wabbin and Perda, the host of BotW characters can be seen when Link overlooks the pond in sydstitch’s version. This likely indicates Link's feelings for his friends, given how he utilizes their powers after his current awakening in Hyrule.
Most of sydstitch’s work can be found on Instagram or her online shop, where fans of different series can purchase actual embroidered items and stickers of her art. Aside from her Breath of the Wild creations, many of sydstitch’s work takes inspiration from iconic scenes in Studio Ghibli movies like Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Spirited Away. Some of her art also involve characters from anime such as Haikyuu!! and One Punch Man.
With most of the comments on the Reddit thread complimenting sydstitch’s version of Breath of the Wild’s Lover’s Pond, it is interesting to see how the game’s community interprets the themes found within the title. As the release date for BotW 2 draws nearer than ever, the fans are likely hopeful that the sequel will draw the same feelings and affection that the base game did when it was first launched.
