Battlefield 2042 Beta PC System Requirements Revealed | Game Rant

Electronic Arts and DICE just confirmed the dates for Battlefield 2042's first technical beta tests, which will fall on August 12th and will last through August 15th. However, it is worth remembering that Battlefield 2042's first beta playtest will be under a strict non-disclosure agreement, and only selected players will be eligible for it.

While sign-ups for the first technical test will remain open until August 8th, EA and DICE revealed that the testing would accommodate a few thousand participants, though the exact number of players that will be invited was not disclosed. However, an open beta phase for Battlefield 2042 available to all players is planned to happen sometime in September 2021. Besides confirming the first beta test for Battlefield 2042, EA and DICE also revealed the minimum and recommended technical specifications needed for players to run it on their PC. The specs are shown below:

It is worth remembering that the technical test was initially planned to be held last July. However, EA decided to push it back at a later date, given that the developers needed more time to ensure a smooth implementation of its cross-play function. Battlefield 2042 fans should also know that the first technical test isn't limited to PC, given that players on PS5 and Xbox Series X would also be able to access it starting August 12.

According to EA and DICE, the first technical playtest will be divided into six different sessions, with the first give being 3 hours long, while the one running for 9 hours. Unfortunately, apart from the general overview of what to expect, the invite to the playtest doesn't really provide any information as to the different modes that will be made available during the Battlefield technical test. However, EA and DICE will likely be focusing on the core gameplay loop, overall performance, and stability to ensure that all is well once the open beta test rolls out in September.

While there has been some excitement for the game's upcoming playtest, some fans were disappointed upon the announcement that Battlefield 2042 will be missing one feature at launch. In an interview, Battlefield 2042's senior design director Justin Wiebe confirmed that the game wouldn't launch with a dedicated Ranked mode. According to Wiebe, the development team decided not to include Ranked Mode at launch because they wanted to hear more feedback from the community before it is implemented. However, Wiebe reiterated that if Ranked Mode is something that players want to see, then the developers will consider putting it in the game.

Battlefield 2042 launches October 22 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
