Call of Duty: Vanguard Tease Supposedly Uses Reveal Trailer Footage
As the upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard has begun to leak, Activision has quickly started to address the unconfirmed information with a bit of a joke tweet. However, as some players have noticed from some of those Call of Duty: Vanguard leaks, it would appear that the tweet includes official footage from the unannounced game itself.
Considering that the official reveal trailer still hasn't arrived at the time of this writing, nor at the time of the original Call of Duty: Vanguard tweet, this is a bold move to throw out this type of footage. Players may be on the lookout for it when the official announcement comes out, to see exactly what moment this addressing of the leaks is coming from in comparison to the full game.
The short video itself shows what appears to be a fleet of bombers being revealed over a rooftop, with what some viewers assume to be a Russian church in the near distance. However, overlaid on top of the planes in the distance are the words "Leaks" and "Rumors", which are currently dropping bombshells over a city under siege. What stands out, though, is that the footage doesn't appear to have come from previous Call of Duty releases or seasons, implying that this new video is from what had been planned to be the announcement video.
Fans are a mixture of impressed with the bold strategy, and confused to see this footage already getting an early reveal from Call of Duty so soon after the leaks started appearing. It's a strange use of official footage for a developer to go ahead and take the subject of the leaks and start giving players an early look in response to leaks already blowing the lid off of so much information. Considering how most developers tend to turn around when leaks start appearing and either cover up or otherwise obscure them, seeing Call of Duty lean into the meme with actual footage is new for many fans.
At the moment, fans are already quick to grasp onto any new Call of Duty: Vanguard information they can, even if they are unconfirmed or later proven to be false. So, it's difficult to tell exactly what is legitimate and what is a made up rumor meant to attract some extra attention from the latest bombshell leaks. However, having this official footage come from the horse's mouth means that there is at least something completely official that fans can use as a backbone to confirm or deny some leaks.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is rumored to be in development.
